VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | pPurchased new in December of 1955 at Beckwith-Holmes Company Inc. (MotorSales) in Tampa Florida(Grand Central &am Magnolia avenues). Original owner was sister to dealershipco-owner. pShe lived in South Dakota andreturned withthe Clipper. It remained there until 1979 when second owneraquired it with 36, miles. pSecond ownerlived in Minnesota and the car was there until I bought it in 1999. At the time it had 43, miles currently it has about 46, miles. pInteresting fact(??) This 1956 Clipper rolled off the assembly in November of 1955 andhas the correct(for Clipper Custom)352 V-8 engine yet serial number indicates that it's a 1955 engine. pMyself and mechanics have all looked closely and determinedthat if engine was replaced it was done "5 years ago"...furtheremore, I have met anotherClipper Custom owner claiming to have "an original 1956" and his toohas an EARLY BUILD DATE with an engine coded as 1955. pWas Packard(Studebaker-Packard by then)using u a few "left over 1955 352 engines"during their lauch of 1956 Clippers? p-OR- pDo the two of us "Clipper guys" simply have mis-matched serial numbers/codes because our engines WERE INDEED REPLACED? pComments? Your thoughts? p p p p p p p p | ||||
