VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | Purchased from Earle C. Anthony Packard Dealership on Van Ness Ave in SFO (now a BMC dealer) by Oscar Kennedy Cushing August 20, 1939. Chauffer-driven to Palm Springs each year. OKC, whose initials were on both rear doors, was a San Francisco lawyer and Democratic Party official from 1900 on, who was selected by FDR in 1934 to negotiate the Longshoremen's strike. He died in 1948. Purchased by my step-father Herbert Ignatius Maguire, San Francisco CPA, in 1948 with only 8,000 original miles. Herb favored large convertibles owning a 1957 Lincoln Premiere convertible and a Chrysler LaBaron convertible in 1960 when he gave me the Packard, a few months before I graduated from high school in San Jose. Driven by me almost daily through college and growing family years until 1986 when it was deemed unsafe to drive, dismantled and stored while parts were cleaned and acquired. Retrieved in 2005 for a restoration. Photo taken Aug. 2011 | ||||
