Re: Oil filter lines

Not too shy to talk

I have attached a few pics of my setup. My return goes into a fitting on the back of the filler tube. There is a tee at the bottom supply line with a feed to the filter and a small line to the port on the block just above. I feel like I should leave the small line and tee in place and plumb everything from there. But if the pressure is coming from the bottom port, should that not be the top/supply at the filter and not the bottom. Seems like the oil should flow from outside in on the cartridge, but a may be wrong.

Usually the plastic starter switch fails because the metal ball inside gets rusty and/or the contacts get dirty. I would try to take it apart and clean it well. Then it work just fine. Common issue.

Regular part stores will not carry that or anything for your carb. Too old.

You have to go through either a Packard vendor or someone like Daytona Carb who specializes in old carbs.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone. I appreciate your knowledge. Follow up questions, what are some good website to purchase parts in the future? Also is the plastic carburetor component available at local Auto zone or O'Reilly?

been sitting for 5 years. He would start it up occasionally, but was having issues starting lately, until I inherited it. Battery is charged, engine turns, but might be the switch on the carb

In the Literature archive. You have to expand the search at the bottom of the initial results.

I'm going to have a new radiator net installed. But I'll try the ignition timing again first.

Greetings and thanks Mike

BIG THANKS BIG KEV! Hope to get it in a show this weekend at a local microbrew. I put bluetooth speakers in the back with a power pack and play 40’s music from my music app. Sinatra and Como, cruising with the Rat Pack!

With the leak fixed, it would probably be a good idea to shut off the valve between the vacuum tank and the carb whenever the car is parked overnight or longer. That will limit leak potential and help assure that the vacuum tank will be full of fuel, which should be enough to prime the carburetor and run the engine long enough for the entire system to be primed, even if the car has sat for an extended period. (Provided the fuel stays fresh)

Probably the vibrator is bad. You can get a new one (they are solid state now), match the pinout and voltage/polarity. Or send it to a repair shop of which there are several. The radio internals didn't change much by year or make.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.
