I used this on the Jackard exhaust manifolds that regularly get up to and over 500f.

It says flat back, but it looks more grey to me, almost like natural cast when sprayed.

Here you can see the results, and it still looks like this after many heat and driving cycles:

Sometimes the contacts are gunked up and just RNR ing will cause a poor connection. Clean all electrical connections with alcohol and/or steel wool. Of course also remove the generator cover and check you work. If you installed them reverse polarity it would not charge.

If all that looks good then just do the standard diagnoses in the electrical manual.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

I was under the impression that the manifolds were left raw from the factory and if that also applies to 1940 senior models, there is a great high-temperature natural cast iron paint. Hirsch and others carry it.

Today was a good day. I got everything loose on the front end and the radiator drained and hoses off. The front clip is ready for “lift off”. I have the Three Hooligans signed up to lift it off Friday evening. I think we’ll make it a neighborhood party and I’ll put some chicken on the grill. But, nobody eats (or drinks) until AFTER the work is done. I don’t think it will take long.

I also went back to the heater refinishing and tried the “wrinkle” paint that Dan (DM37) recommended. I just did the insides for now and they came out pretty nice, I think. I’ll do the outsides tomorrow.

Here’s before and after the heat gun to bring out the wrinkle effect.

Quick question, while I have the intake and exhaust manifolds off the engine, thought I might re paint the intake manifold. I painted it around thirty years ago and still is holding up for the most part. Thinking a new coat will look better, looks like I painted it a gloss or semi gloss black, what is the correct black to repaint it? And is a high heat necessary for the intake. In past years tried to paint the exhaust manifold with a couple, at the time, ultra super exhaust manifold paints, all of which lasted around two weeks, and yes that was even with sandblasting the manifold first. Will probably leave it bare metal unless someone has some suggestions? Thank you.

Didnt get much done on the car this past time I was in at my parents. Did drive it again though. I got a horn issue addressed and retuned the carb after I screwed with some settings on the side of the road down in florida. I hope to get the vents connected up the next time I am home so that hopefully I can get the full effect of the A/C when it gets humid out.

Went home this past weekend and got some wheel time on the Carib. It runs and drives really nice!! the car does not see saw anymore with the new bump stops. however, the car is not charging now. In preparation for taking the Patrician to florida in the beginning of the month I removed the generator and installed new brushes to put in the trunk as a spare. Well, what ever I did to the generator it now doesnt want to charge. So I will have to see what I screwed up. But other than that it is driving nicely!

I agree, contacting suppliers directly is the best course of action.

Whoever built this and from whatever it was made, I agree with TxGoat that it looks good. Certainly banning something like this isn't a solution either. Then you would need to ban Ross and his Packups and remove the entire modification section. Where do you draw the line? Adding disk brakes? Putting in third-party and aftermarket components? Replacing panels with new ones?

Don, you took the words right outta my mouth! Let's support each other, not tear each other down.
