TC (54packpac), two months from the idea to realization, congratulations, that was really fast and the result is impressive.

All finished. The Auto City Classics tank is nearly identical to my 54 tank. There is evidently a lot of global foundries in Taiwan that make gas tanks for the U.S. market. The sending unit ACC sent did not work, however I did have one from Max Merritt / Kanter on hand. I sprayed Boeshield T-9 on the tank but it was probably unnecessary. I added the ground and cut the hole to the specs provided from the Forum. Almost perfect. The 70 year old cork on the old unit looked decimated and the old tank had some nice sludge in it. The filler neck lined up perfectly. A Gates G37 cap fits as well.

Was going through my files and came across this picture from 1979. My grandmother in the driver seat her best friend standing and her friends daughter in the back seat. Blanche kind of looks the same except she has white walls now.

Re: Accelerator pedal travel?

Year and model of your car would be helpful. The engine should respond promptly to pressing the accelerator. Your linkage may need adjustment. With the engine off and the pedal held to the floor, the carburetor should be wide open. The throttle lever on the carburetor base that the linkage attaches to rests against the idle speed adjustment screw when in the closed position. There is a projection on the carburetor base that stops the lever's movement at full throttle. With the pedal down, the carburetor throttle lever should be against the stop.

'37 120 Horn button Removal

My '37 120 has the optional banjo steering wheel. I need to remove the horn button to check the tightness of the steering wheel retaining nut. The horn works as it should. The horn button can be rotated easily within limits. It moves easily about 3/16" either way, and comes to a hard stop. When I push down on it, it goes down easily and comes to a hard stop. There is no indication of binding or friction, either rotating or pushing down.

Hey no problem !
My stainless tag looks different to most others I have seen on here, I can’t seem to find a tag that includes Trim And Paint codes, did they all have this tag and mine has just been lost? Or is it hidden?

Any help appreciate, thank.

Accelerator pedal travel - 49 Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan w/288

Another newbie question:

Should the engine respond rather promptly to your foot when you press on the accelerator pedal? It it seems like mine has to be almost all the way to the floor before it really gets enough fuel to get going. Is this a linkage or adjustment issue? This is a freshly rebuilt Carter WDO carburetor that, otherwise, seems to work fine. Fuel pump is also freshly rebuilt.

Mr.D
Codenser is the automotive term for a capacitor. They are rated in MF (micro farad). The rating is usually stamped in the top.I took mine to my local Advance Auto and they looked it up both ways as a Packard part and the mf rating of the capaciter that I brought in. I walked out of the store with the part I needed for less than $10 bucks no shipping or waiting for the Postman.
