With his apparent lack of brain cells if the truck fell or caught fire there would be no loss to the gene pool of the human race. If he worked at a place with a safety department he would be fired at the least.

I have a new way to spend my days wake up read the paper drink my coffee and toast. Then I put on my coat and boots start the snowblower and clean the drive way and sidewalk then any thing else I want to do. Miss the days when I did not have to clean the snow if the rivers flood it will not get me as I live on the topo of a nice hill good for keeping away from floods not good when it gets windy though.
Had to help my sisiter in law this aftternoon as she has water leaking in from ice build up on roof I have been lucky on that front so far
My wife was from Ebensburg / Altoona area she is use to snow most of the winter we in Southwestern Pa do not see this type of weather normally
Will try and get over to check on my paint job in the morning

A few other advantages to overdrive trans is it easy to get in low gear without coming to a complete stop sort of a cheap syncro low When in overdrive or second overdrive a quick flooring of the gas pedal gives a nice kickdown without having to shift. A overdrive car with a lower rear axle ratio is a lot of fun to drive and it will also help improve gas consumption. A side benefit is that overdrive is a lot less prone to expensive repairs as opposed to auto trans I always enjoyed driving cars with overdrive Definitely the kick down great fun Most overdrive cars came with lower rear axle ratio which in itself adds to the performance level and hill climbing ability in high gear which was a selling point in the older days.

I couldn't do anything for the last 5 days first it snowed about 22 inches then power and cable went out. No heat no light no Packard info. Got snow blower out to take care of snow then fire wood for fire hooked up portable generator had light and power for furnace. Then another 5 inches of snow.Missed my brothers birthday also
Now the bad news body man could not open doors on his shop no progress on my projects paint job.
Then this morning power came back on internet back up at least get to waste time keeping me busy reading stacked up emails and other computer additions.

Not being a expert on prewar Studebakers but looks like 1936 as 1935 had cuts on front leading edge of front fenders car in has what looks like a torn fender on drivers side front fender passenger side looks straight. The car does have the Planar front suspension
If the body plate is still on firewall better way to determine year. Also measure the wheelbase

Being no expert on finanical matters especially large corp. But all the car companies Hudson Nash Kaiser Packard Studebaker and now Chrysler and General motors fail or are failing for one reason customers are not buying the cars being produced. No company can survive if they do not have enough people buying the products they produce. The stock holders want a return on the investment they make no profits no company. Unless they get backing from the government and that did not happen until recently.
Having been associated with C W they are not on my favorites list

In regards to suppliers for parts I try and support more than one supplier having purchase some parts from Sasco which has been taken over by Studebaker International, Also from Studebaker Parts.Com. The Super charger is being rebuilt Fairborn Studebaker. Being retired I have time to check on best price for the parts which are avaiable from more than one source. Some parts from NAPA and from Studebaker swap meets. Plus having been involved with Studebakers since I was born a few parts that my brother and I have collected over the years.
Most of the work on the motor involved cleaning and replacing gaskets and seals. More time and labor including pressure washing and wire brushing to remove all the dirt and crud. Labor was free as was my time.
If you need any details would be glad to send you info

Rear wiper is handy on a fast back style of car more useful for removing dew and snow. I remmeber my uncles 1948 Olds had one. I know I always liked them on my wagons 1964 Buick had one as did my sport utility vehicles with a rear washer great to have even comes in handy removing dust from rear window on dirt dusty roads .

I just received another copy of the Packard issue of Classic car my cousin from North Carolina was at book store saw the articles and picked up a issue and sent it to me he knows of my project.
The best thing about the Classic car magazine is that it covers all brands and types of cars I'm sure they are not experts on every brand they do a great job of general information with wonderful pictures.
Proof reading will not find the little errors that show up to to the brand experts. I know that I do not know everything about all brands of cars still enjoy the articles as general interest to a car person
