Series 23 Hood Release
Home away from home
Home away from home

Joe Wareham
I have a question about the assembly of the hood release mechanisms on my Series 23. There are a series of springs and washers that need to be installed in a specific order. Howard helped me find some pictures of the release mechanism but I believe they are from an earlier series. Does anyone have pictures or assembly manual references to the Series 23 release assembly? This is another case of taking hundreds of dis-assembly pictures but missing to one you really need!

Thanks, Joe

Got the front fenders mounted yesterday. Not the easiest task I ever encountered!

Got the fender bolts installed using the retaining clips from Restoration Specialties. Had to use course carriage bolts rather than fine. Friends are lined up and we're going to hang the doors tomorrow. Quick measurements indicate that the front of the doors may have to be adjusted outward slightly.

Got all the trim attached to the fenders and hood. Waiting for the fender bolt retainers from Restoration Specialties to hang the front fenders. Wheels and tires came in. Tires are wide white, 760R15 steel-belted radials on 5 X 5" Packard wire wheels.

I'm back working on my Packard after some time off. Getting ready to hand the front fender so the headlights and trim are being added first. It' good to be back making progress on this project!

I'm finally getting back to working on my Packard project. I had to take some time off because we bought a new home, went through a bad hurricane that damaged my shop and sold our former home. With all the prepping and moving, I didn't have time to get back on the Club Sedan. Everything is settled down and I'm starting to get back to working on it. Right now I'm inventorying parts and trying to figure-out where I left off. Should be doing some posting soon.

My '49 Packard project came through Irma OK but some damage at my shop will probably keep me from working on it for a while.

I just got the last of my chrome pieces back from the plater, 2 front bumper guards, the right door handle and the windshield center bar. Excellent job!
