Don't understand the fuel pump problem, as my local mechanic rebuilt my pump with a kit from Kanter. Are you planning to make the Florida Packard meet in Brooksville, Fl?

I love the "goddess of speed". My car has the "flying wing". I laugh at the story that my dad used to tell about the old lady in his town that guided the car down the road by aiming the hood ornament where she wanted to go.

When I see these old grand Packards, I wonder what lost story it could tell. Who was the wealthy person that bought it? Was it chaufer driven ? Most of all, how did it survive? What a sight to behold if fully restored?

I have 48 Deluxe sedan. My car is all original with little maintenance over the years. After addressing the most pressing issues I replace 3 rear shocks and leaf springs.Replaced 12 year old tires with Coker bias ply. The old tires were not cracked but tread was worn and I had patched two tires that had nails in them. Dramatic improvement in handling and ride. Steering was much improved. Single hand steering on interstate highway.

This is going to be such a beautiful Packard and so well restored. I am a member of the Florida Packard club, also.
This will be a great addition to the show so I hope you can make it.

I feel your pain being out their all alone with your Packard. Thanks to this forum , I printed loads of information to help my mechanic. Whether he uses it or not I don't know. When anything is wrong with my car, I use the materials here and tell him what I think needs to be done.

You did not mention the beautiful black Patrician driven by Joan, a very wealthy single woman. It was shown in full side and rear views. I look for Packards as I watch the old films on TCM. I also cringed when Jack smashed the Packard.

Use Classic Car Motor Oil. Google it. It has everything our old cars need. My 1948 deluxe was tapping when I received it., I dropped and cleaned the pan and added this oil. The noise stopped.

Thank you guys for the information. The folks and information here have been invaluable to me in purchasing and keeping my Packard on the road. I just made a 300 mile round trip to a Florida Packard meet. We made it home to the gas station but the regulator had quit and we were operating on just battery power. I have another regulator but am strongly considering the electronic regulator.
