After much study and many conversations with car owners I installed Diamondback radials on my Station Sedan. For the 6 years after that I owned the car I was extremely satisfied with the ride and handling.

Nice cosmetic restoration of a low mileage rust free car. New paint in original color, Aztec Brown Metallic. All new wood including tailgate, done in Northern Birch wood with Mahogany wood inserts. Very nice Santa Fe Tan interior. Bumpers and guards and grille rechromed. Many many more new parts such as wiring harness, glass and gaskets, Diamondback Radial Tires, etc. etc. I have driven this car, trouble free, for six years and over 5,000 miles. Several "Best of Show" trophies at big shows. Excellent condition. $63,000.00 scampout@comcast.net or PM
I have many pictures but website will not let me post any.

The wings on my cormorant came loose on my Station Sedan. I reinstalled the wedge to firm them up and filled the cavity with JB weld. That wedge will NEVER back out again. Done.....'nuff said.

Thank You for posting such a concise real world description of a process that I was not looking forward to doing this winter.

I rewired my '48 including the gas tank wire. No big deal to drop the tank, took 5 minutes to lower the tank, couple of minutes ti remove the old wire and install the new wire with boot, then reinstalled the tank. Of course the tank was very low in gas, perhaps two gallons. I considered adding an access door but decided not to bother with it as I do not expect to go back there again. All told it took 1/2 hour to do the job.

Custom Station Sedan at Auction

Perhaps some of you 22nd/23rd series people will remember this custom car which was featured in Robert Neal's book "Packard 1948-50". I followed with interest as it was auctioned this past weekend in Santa Monica Ca. It sold for $47,500.00 which seems like a very good deal to me for such a lovely "one off" car. Here is a link to the auction results page for this car with a nice set of pictures:

Fred, I removed the front seat in my '48 Station Sedan to remove old/install new wiring. This allowed this 6'2" guy to have easier access to the backside of the the dash.

I used Rhode Island Wiring Service for the harness on my 2293 Station Sedan. Excellent instructions, some minor tech support from them was gladly given. Everything fit and worked perfect. I am very pleased.
As far as weatherstrip, order from whom ever gives the best discount, it all comes from Steele.
