I agree that it's a marvelous article. In fact, I read it without seeing the byline, and by the end I thought to myself, "I wonder who wrote such a thoughtful and careful article?" I had to smile when I flipped back to the frontpage and saw it was Dave Czirr, whose advice is always so invaluable on these boards.

V12 Engine rebuild advice

It looks like my 1935 V12 may need an engine rebuild. Any recommendations on where I should be taking it?
To the extent it matters, it's important to me that the job be done correctly, as it's a car that's been in my family since 1942 and I hope to be driving it for a another few decades myself. So I want to find someone who is a real expert at these engines. At the same time, the car is a driver, not a show car, and I don't really have any interest in making the car a show car. Also, while I'm at it, I gather you all advise me not to take the car to the generalist restoration shop that has worked on the car in the past? I've taken it in the past to a shop that got it into decent running shape, and that has worked on some Packards, but as far as I know has never rebuilt a V12. Put another way, I gather this is a job that you give to an expert, not a generalist? (Hope that makes sense.) Thanks in advance! -1935Packard

Here's the 110 emblem that I described.

Sorry to come late to the party, but the 110 does not have a medallion for the hood latch. The hood latch frame is all one part, and it has a circle at the front with "110" written on it. Or at least that's what my '41 110 has, which I assume is correct. I'll take a picture if I get a chance.

In my experience, the individuals who are active in local Packard Club chapters are the ones who are most likely to be the kinds of owners that you're looking for. So it might be worth contacting local Packard Club chapters to see if they know someone who might be interested.

Thanks!!!! I was able to use that number to get to Ken: It turns out that his office number is (916) 972-1000 , if there are others trying to reach him.
Many thanks, again.

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks. Yes, I've normally posted on the boards over at the AACA, but I figured this one was worth a double-post -- kinda frustrating not to have a way to contact a guy when you want to buy some of his stuff. Thus my first post here, after being a longtime lurker.

I came across this site, ken-thornton.com, advertising Packard Parts, but there's only an e-mail address and no one responds. Does anyone know if the site is still in business, and if so, how to reach it?
