G'day,

Regarding garages, here in Sydney Australia I have a 3 car garage but the back section has been converted into a bedroom w/- built-in robe. The front part, now a tandem, only houses the '38 120 Sedan of recent purchase while the back part is mainly filled with my elder sons living room furniture not to mention an aged accumulation of hard to part with junk!

But not for long as I've recently purchased another 120 this time a '41 Coupe on ebay from Idaho. So as the son is returning from his Europe trip I'll be heading to Idaho to inspect and pick-up the Coupe while back in Sydney the boy will be clearing the garage in readiness for it's arrival.

But with shipping to the west coast and shipping to Australia I don't expect to see the car down-under before mid-September at the earliest. However in the time that it takes to get here it's room will be suitably appointed.

Eric,

Thanks for filling me in, its amazing what nature does. Your Essex may be a lost cause by now from the description.

Tad,
I'm intrigued, forgive a down-under guy his naivety, but have some of the cars sunk into the ground? Is this the result of the climate with the snow or have the bottoms rusted away? Mal

Tad,
The Coupe fell through but I'm still on the look-out for a late 30's early 40's Packard Coupe. Watching ebay etc. Thanks for your continued interest.

Tad,

Keep those pictures coming. I really like the Rod - Had a background in rodding and drag-racing years ago when I was a boy, as us old timers say(60YO). But, as time moves on, I have turned to Packards while maintaining an appreciation of all things automotive.

Tad,

You seem to be very busy scanning the countryside for Packards.

Tad,

Thanks for the info on the '38 and also the photos. I have emailed the owner about gaining more info about the car and the logistics of what would be an international operation of sorts. There is still a long way to go in the process but I am hopeful it will all work out.

Again many thanks, as the availability of Packards in Australia is much more limited than in the USA.

I am sure your selfless act will be rewarded.

Tad,

Looks good in the pictures, I'd say snap it up. If the body is in good order it would be a great basis for a restoration project.

Here in Australia these cars are very hard to find. I'm currently looking for one so if you don't go ahead with it, please remember me.

As I'd be able to get to the US in August to inspect the car if it's still available then, could you tell me approximately whereabouts in the US it's located?

Thanks
Mal - 38's are great(see my '38 in the owner registry)

Hi Ian,

Welcome, I too am new at this having recently purchased a '38 120 Sedan. It was restored by the previous owner 20 years ago and is registered for full road use which I intend to follow with some restrictions mainly weather and/or traffic conditions being favorable. So, although I don't have the task that you have ahead of you, I am now on the lookout for a Pre-WW2 Packard as a restoration project for my retirement at the end of July.
