i heard that. physics might suggest that nine bearing would be better , but that crank is the weak link. long and heavy .

i am interesting in this topic because i had delusions/dreams of putting a straight eight on the salt. turbocharged. in a bellytank/lakester frame. i have seen a Buick 6, but no Packards. a nine bearing would be my choice. the oiling system would have to go dry sump cause the Packard oiling is no good for this.I read "what would blow first " the rods i believe.
anybody have any more ideas i will read them.
a Packard gearheads delusion.

i mailed ordered a Optima 6v from the Optima website for hundred dollers. came in a couple days. you need a special charger to charge it or put another regular 6v in parrelle while charging. or Pepboys or the lke have 6v batteries for sixtie bucks

what i need to do is know how to find the right trans for my car when i go down to see Jerry after the Holidays. I am looking for a 52 Ultramatic with the 12 plates. i can now look for the tag by the top filler hole. but how do i identify one that was behind a 327? ( 12 plate)

i could look tomorrow for the casting number , but if i wanted to get a 52 to rebuild, I would want the the right trans for my car. it came with a 327 ... K4XXXX ... and it has a 51 288 in it now. with the 53 -10 plate trans. when i go looking for a 52 ( 12- plate ) i am starting to know what to look for.
I will start reading all the Ultramatic info i can. I had my 52 out on Highway 101 today. got her up to 85mph. shake down test/ she needs alot of work. but SHE GOES!

i want the right trans for my car. when i go down to see Jerry to get a 327 and Ultra-matic.
