Thanks for the prompt reply.
I did not think it looked like the Super Eight pattern. Also, the sequence of photos portray it to be a one-man operation....which would be quite a challenge with a Senior top.

What model convertible sedan had this upholstery pattern?

I am trying to identify an undated brochure which describes in detail the procedure for lowering the top of a convertible sedan.
Hopefully a viewer knows which model had this unique rear seat pleat pattern. Also, there appears to be a round ash tray on the side panel. Attach file: (14.29 KB)

To check the oil you pull and turn the 'bent rod' 90 degrees.
If oil drips on the ground...you have enough. If it does not drip...add some. Think that design would fly with the EPA now?????

Back in 1968 I had a 1930 Ford 'Faux Cabriolet'... Ford called it a Sport Coupe.
Not sure if the '28.-29 Model A had that body style, but I am sure all the Model A folks can answer that

Looking for 1937 Super Eight Miller Hearse

---|---|---|---|---|

The PAC Directory lists this car as belonging to a Peter P____ in Eureka, CA.
Unfortunately, both phone numbers are disconnected. I have sent a letter to the listed address but have not received an answer. Has anyone seen this car? know of its whereabouts? Have a picture of it? I am trying to put finishing touches to my forthcoming book on the 1937 Seniors, including pictures of all custom bodies and would love to have it included. Any help in tracking it down would be greatly appreciated.

Can you identify this welting/piping?

I am still going through the 'treasures' I acquired from an old Packard dealership.
I have a bunch of this piping and do not know what year or model Packard used it. I am also curious to know if it is being reproduced. Thanks for looking...

I have worked on the transmission and want to put it back together. There is BIG nut on the shaft.
Does anyone have any idea what torque should be should be used on the nut? The shop manual has detailed instructions to disassemble the clutch area and simply states... "For assembly reverse procedure."

Re: Rolls Royce vs. Packard:Who Built a Better Merlin?

I think the first qualification/clarification you have to make is to define 'BETTER'.
Better for performance? Better for economics? Better because of less maintenance? I understand Packard put gaskets where RR never considered putting them. Better is a subjective term. My neighbor across the runway restored a Spitfire that had been in the Normandy Invasion. In his research he found that Packard had made improvements to the RR design. He found a Packard Merlin and installed it. His big mistake was taking it to Oshkosh (the Hershey of aviation) the year Glaciar Girl showed up, so he only got Reserve Grand Champion. It was fun sitting on our deck every day seeing that Packard roar down the runway....and especially see it do a low pass at full bore!
