I know little about early cars such as this but by the description it sounds like a shock is going bad or is low on fluid.

If switching to LED, be sure to use bulbs of the appropriate colors to match the lenses. For example, if red lenses, use red bulbs or if green, use green as otherwise LEDs will be too bright and will overpower the little plastic lenses in the cluster. Also, LEDs are very directional so try to pick those with light all around.

Looks like they are already deleted. Anyway, this question comes up here all the time so whenever I learn something I will soon need to know, I make a note of it. Here is my note for this:
Fluid to use Dexron if rebuilt Type F if original B&M Trickshift also comes up in the answers but I saved only the common fluids to my notes.

If it helps, I have a really nice 1951 cluster out of the car and can photograph it when I’m next at my shop in a couple weeks. It’s from a senior model so may have slight differences (possibly left and right turn indicators) but overall it’s the same.

The main concern with my own tank is plugging the whistle with the sealer which is something I didn’t have to worry about on the 1954 Patrician tank. My car is a 1951 and the last year of the whistle for passenger cars but I believe all the Henney-Packards had it since they used the pre-1951 tank.

Great to know that I can kill two stones with one bird (or something like that) to get the hardware cleaned while I’m at it!

I am about to similarly clean the tank in my Henney-Packard and as hardware is easier in my shop to find than gravel, did the hardware also come out clean? Just curious!

The 1938 Henney-Packard photo was taken in the '60s at Vintage Auto Parts in Woodenville Washington with a teenage me standing next to it and note the rare roof rack. The 1940, 1941 Landaulet and 1953 Junior (mistitled as 1952) were taken in the early '80s at Lewis Lazurus' acreage in Illinois where there were Henneys all over the place just about everywhere one looked. The 1941 Landaulet was a very nice original getting its rear fenders repainted and I came very close to buying it as I already owned the 1941 shown next to my 1940 110. The last photo is of some of my own cars in my storage yard which was close to being a junkyard with all the cars I had there.
Sorry for the poor quality but I've not yet located the originals so these are from my site. There is no way to know if the engine is original to the car but with what you have you can confirm that it is the proper one for the car. Some Packards, such as Henney-Packard commercial chassis, have the engine number stamped on the same plate as the vehicle number but even then, not all had it. If your car still has the build sheet (sometimes tucked above the glove box or under the back seat) it may have the number but I’m not sure.
