the seller accepted my offer, and im going to pick up the car tommarow!

i heard once that the ultramatics had reliability issues. the source i heard it from belived that it was due to the fluid foaming up, or something along those lines. is there any truth to this? im not really worried because of the mileage of the car (kinda high) which tells me that it must have gone fine for quite awhile. it would be cool to have a standard tranny, but im a purist.

it may sound dumb, but does the 'twin' portion refer to a two speed transmission?

I dont know alot about modifying old vehicles, really because i like them stock. with that said, i will definately do modificatons that enhance driveablity. (electric fuel pump, electronic ignition, ect) i also appreciate craftsmanship and mechanical ability.

I was reading that some people had problems with exhuast valve seats failing due to heat. Has anyone ever thought of putting an exhuast pyrometer in pre-turbo? i am well experienced with Diesel modifications, and in that field, pyros are an absolute necessity.

Wow. I learn something new every time i check back! the shell fluid said (if i remember correctly) dexron/mercon. I try to avoid using no name brand fluids.

I read somewhere that some people use Diesel oil for a better additive packge. is there any truth to this?

Has anyone used Shell transmission fluid? My Diesel loves shell rotella oil, and i was wondering about the quality of their ATF. Thanks for the great information!

Yeah, ultramatic, my bad. I hope to make my offer within the next day or two. the seller is a policeman who works odd shifts, so he is hard to get a hold of.

i dont have a pic, but once its here i will. it is a black 56 patrician, column shift, power antenna, power rear suspension and the origanal owners manual in the glovebox, and the origanal key in the ignition. it is possible that it was a police car at some point, but were not sure.
