Can someone send some cool air or rain to Oklahoma city. It has been 100+ everyday. Its 5am 88 degrees, 112 high yesterday and today. Still no progress on the ultramatic.

I have a 1957 chevy 210 4 door all original 235 3 speed standard shift with O/D. The 4 door 57s are almost rare now because they were use for parts cars. Not many 4 doors around with original stuff on them. Everyone has done the 350 combo on the 57s and other tri fives. Just my 2 cents.

Found 2 mechanic's that have worked on ultramatic's. We are taking out the valve body tomorrow and see how it is and the throttle control rod adjustment to make sure its at 28 29/32. Here is hoping its one of the two.

Well bad news. Finally got around to changing the tranny fluid, it was not bad still red in color. Did not smell like burnt fluid, the filter had a little sludge in the screen and in the bottom pan. I found no metal shavings in the fluid or pan. Ok cleaned the filter, new pan gasket, new type F fluid. It still won't shift into high, when I shift to high from low it sounds like it is in neutral. The engine races. Low and reverse are good, so I take it the high clutch is gone. Found one guy here in Oklahoma city that is a tranmission/ former packard mechanic. His eye sight is not good anymore. This guy rebuilt one for my friend 8 yrs ago, but can't do it now. So I need some ideas, I'm lost. I also change the oil in the engine and went with 30W non detergent, motor sounds nice.

Took the packard for its first drive today since I rebuilt many things. Drove it 12 blocks with my friend following me. Low and reverse work smooth , but no high gear in ultamatic. All fluids were checked before the ride. Changing oil tomorrow in engine, shell rotella 15-40w and add some zddp also. changing fluid in tranny and cleaning screen too. I have a new pan gasket, checking rear end also. Had a little tappet noise like maybe one tappet. What else should do or look for. Steering felt great and no rattles anywhere. I'm excited about my first packard.

My treadle vac has had it. Found a rebuilt one from Arizona vintage parts. Has anyone bought a treadle vac from Arizona vintage parts? I'm ready to drive my packard once I get another treadle vac.

Got the tranmission home had a little water in it. Drained the fluid and added new fluid . Every thing turns good. Going to drain and add fluid for a week or so. I forgot how heavy these thing are.

My buddy has a ultamatic tranny rebuilt last year. Put about 400 miles on it , pulled it out and put it in his garage. The garage flooded 3 months ago, he told me he would sell it for a $100 to me. I'm picking it up Wed, I fiqure its good for parts if I ever need them. Should I put some fresh fluid in it and see what happen on the bench?
