55 400 lower windshield trim

The 55 400 that I have been working for the last ten years, is near completion.
The lower windshield stainless trim refuses to lock into the rubber seal. The top and side trim pieces do. When I have tried to pull up on the cording as recommended in the service manual while pressing on the trim the rubber won't enter the lip on the trim piece. Happy

Looking for assistance in re assembling light switch. Spring loaded contactor flew apart during disassembling. I think the spring detent maybe as shown in the photo. The problem I have is a means of compressing the spring detent assembly, any suggestions.

The car has been driven and displayed at our local car show, and at our car club meetings. After ten years of being a care taker its time to pass this car on.
Other than polishing and buffing an older repaint, the exterior looks much as it did when we bought it. (A nice looking20 footer, condition three in Old Cars and Parts). The interior has been redone. Seating material, door panels, and carpeting all were replaced with original pattern materials from SMS. The value would be $15,500 or best offer. A list of what has been done while in my possession is available along with photos via E mail. I have been able to put the list of what I did but am having trouble attaching pictures. I am able to e-mail them if you want to see the interior or exterior. Subject 1956 Packard 400 The car has been driven and displayed at our local car show, and to our car club meetings. Very true. The gauge will go into a 56 400. I have a fried gauge, and can swap face plates if needed. Thanks

Thanks to all of you for your responses. No tacking strips or toothed retainers were used on the headliner's installation, but they are used on the seat frames. Based on all of your input, it looks like the plan proposed by my wife "the boss", early this year. Proving once you should never not listen to your wife!
Skimpily , the plan now is, to hang the headliner on the clips above the back window . That locks the first bow in place. Trim the lasting holding each bow, as needed to insure sufficient material will be available to securely glue to the outside roof edge. Steaming each section of headliner, while stretching in both directions and clamping the outside edges while working forward. Apply contact cement to both surfaces ,roof and back side of vinyl at windshield. Install front window trim, above to help hold the headliner tight, front to rear. With the headliner snug fit front to rear, return to the rear window to steam, stretch, pull, and glue to remove any wrinkles. Working one panel at a time to pull, steam if necessary , and glue sides to remove any wrinkles. Install trim, lamps, coat hangers, sun visors mirror support and stainless trim. Once again thanks for your input, have several projects to deal with. hope to have headliner in by year end ahappy

Yes, Thank you for your response. The 55 has a stainless molding that hides the inside of the headliner. However, there were no tacking strips or toothed retainers. I did manage not to loose any clips. Have looked at a couple on line videos but they are not very clear to me. Yes I do have a steamer . Bought it used when the wife and I did the seats and side panels on a 56 400 some years ago.
