What might be the correct modern filter cartridge number for a 1952 200? Bought a bunch twenty years ago and finally used the last one. The canister I believe is factory. It has the cathedral shaped bottom and cap. Thanks

1940 Custom Low Compression

Had mixed in on another post, trying again. On my 1940, 356 did a valve job a few months (couple hundred miles) ago. When finished all seemed great. All had just around 100 pounds of pressure, and ran great with no lifter noise. Then noticed some lifter noise the other day. Tried two oil changes with some Rizlone, and have since started it a few times and let in run for quite sometime. To see if any change. None. So did an oil pressure check with a new mechanical gauge, at start around 55 to 60, after long warm up and at idle pressure at around 40. Seems fine. So on to compression check, all now around 65 to 70. Used a second compression gauge to check first, same results.
Engine starts fine and runs pretty smooth. Fresh gas, unless I got a bad batch at gas station? Any ideas?

Went to a few big truck parts and service areas, they had rubber but was all much larger. Than needed. Ordered three sizes from McMaster-Carr. Numbers are 8507K47, 8510K29, and 8693K16. Just trying to guess about what might be needed. And if too thin can double up a smaller one inside of a larger one, which I had to do on two. I don't know which size is which as they came unmarked. Unfortunately the minimum is ten feet of each. There are two pictures, one with using only one of the new strips of rubber, and the other with a smaller size inside of a larger piece. On some parts of the spring one size was thick enough to do the job, on a couple others had to use a smaller size inside of a larger size, to make sure the shackle tightened up enough against the spring leafs. You will need to cut the corners of the rubber to get it to fold inside of the three sides, then trim. Both pictures are early attempts at trimming, and with a bit of practice now look better. I believe one picture still shows one section not trimmed yet.

Probably a good idea is to purchase through a local Packard Club, or other car club in your area. This way you will be able to talk with the seller in person, and other automobile enthusiasts will know about the car in question.

Most of the time paying more for a good car ends up paying much less in the long run.Packard parts, and labor is not cheap.

1940 Super Air Cleaner Gaskets

Over the past twenty plus years never installed the air filter gaskets. Was told not necessary as I drive on regular paved roads. Anyway, wanted to install, have been told there are two needed, one large and one larger, no one sells because they are easy to make. I don't see where they go, perhaps maybe one, but two?
Sounds crazy but can anyone explain where they go and the diameters Thanks senile!!!

Here is the first picture If you look carefully towards the left the shaft comes through the frame, then the two pedals and then back through the frame.
