359 intake manifold

Good afternoon!
So, I'm having a 51 Packard Patrician 400 shipped from NH to Texas. It has 54k original miles on it. Question to those who've done it or thought about it. Will a 4 barrel 359 ci fit on the 327 ci ? My future plan is a 374 Packard big block with a GM 700R4 tyranny on it. Just taking it a little at a time. With exception of the tyranny, I want to stay Packard as much as possible. Thanks in advance for the replies....

Shipping a 51 Packard

Good morning Packard Members !
Just bought a 51 Patrician 400 in New Hampshire. Looking for a recommended shipper that any of you have used and were completely satisfied with. I ask because, when you ask for a quote on line, your phone/ email start blowing up non stop. I figured I'd ask the people who've been there, done that. Need to ship in the next week or so. The sooner the better.
To add, the vehicle is currently not running. Some shippers require that it be able to move under it's own power. It will run but, the seller doesn't have time to mess with it.

It has come to a point when, hopes and dreams are just that. We can never lose that......
In an attempt to help my son and his family buy his first home, I am offering for sale, my "Connie". 1955 Clipper Custom Constellation. For what ever reason, I am unable to post any pics other than what I have posted previously. Original miles are still what I've posted previously. The car is on jack stands with the wheels removed. I haven't had the wheels painted or powder coated yet. I have a set of Diamondback www's that I will include with the asking price. I am motivated to sell. I am asking $6000 but will entertain reasonable offers. I believe that's fair for the model. Contact me through the site here. Again, motivated seller.

Thank you.....

HH56 and Ross, Gentlemen, I thank you for the in depth tutorial. I wouldn't have had a clue what I would be looking for, other than the obvious, once I had removed the pan. This gives me a path forward. I have high hopes that, when the pan comes off, it will be a fix, as both of you have described....
I have to suspect that, it is an over travel issue as described, due to the lever being locked in place. We shall see.....Thank you again gentlemen...

One could have only hoped but.....It is extremely hot here in central Texas. With that being said, I crawled under, disconnected the linkage at the trans. Shifter and disconnected linkage work fine. The lever on the side of the trans won't budge. So, next step....remove the trans pan and investigate there.....
It's ironic....The days of the shade tree mechanic are a thing of the past but, that is exactly my situation. A Packard on jack stands, sitting on a concrete pad, under a big live oak....LOL

Any leads on a trans pan gasket ?

Found a gasket....Fatsco Transmission Parts....$12.78

Thank you all for the info and the tips "after the clunk is solved. One thing I noticed when I crawled under was, the rod that goes aft towards the rear of the vehicle had fallen out. I had a eureka moment! I attempted to move the lever on the trans...no movement. I reinstalled the rod, no joy. Still seems to be locked in place. If it helps. 5567 4599 is the VIN. Middle of the model year. It was getting dark and I haven't been under since. I'll crawl under after work tomorrow. It only has 85388 on the odometer. From the looks of it, it appears to be original. I'll disconnect the linkage again and see if the shifter will work then work my way back. Pulling the trans pan will be the last resort. Wish me luck. Not a lot of room in the budget for a trans rebuild at this time......just sayin.....

So......spent most of the morning pulling wheels, up on jack stands now. Cleaned off the hubs, cleaned the fuel bowl, switched the air filter to element instead of oil bath, stopped the minor leaks. Put the water pump on yesterday. Get her all dialed in, drizzled a little fuel down the carb and lit her off. She stumbled coughed and stalled. Hit the key again and she fired off and purred like a kitten. Let it idle a few minutes......stepped on the brake and put it in gear....rear hubs are spinning...all looks good. Step on the brake, go to put it in park and hear a big clunk. Still idling but shifter won't budge out of park. It is locked in place.......shut it down, started it again....no joy on the shifter. Any ideas on what the problem is, short of the transmission being trashed ? All inputs, questions and solutions welcome.
Thank you in advance.
