Re: Wade's Workshop

Mal, I found a neat tool for cutting circular gaskets. It is a compass, but instead of having a pencil at one end it has a blade. You can cut holes or round shaped gaskets. It also has a pad where the pointed end can sit so there is no pin hole mark in the middle if you are making a round gasket. I got it at HobbyTown, a hobby supply store here in the States. The price was about $5US, and comes with extra cutting blades. Enjoying your blog, keep up the good work.

I have a copy of a work order showing my father converted a '56 Caribbean Convertible from Twin Ultramatic to a manual shift transmission. This work was done in the early '60s.

Keegan, your blog wets my appetite for a standard suspension, standard transmission V-8 Clipper. I wonder if there are any out there for sale?

Re: V-belt for 1947 356

Hello All, just a brief update. I had concerns about my water pump and decided to replace it before reinstalling the re-cored radiator. The hub/pulley fit was not the concern. The concerns were the impeller had a brazed repair, and it did not feel "right" when I turned the pulley. Better to do it now than some other time, which in all likelihood would be at the worst possible time and in the worst possible place (apologies to Murphy). I ordered a rebuilt unit from Max Merritt. It arrived, and it is on the car. While installing John Ulrich's v-belt I noticed that it DOES have markings. Here are photos of them. This, after I was certain that the belt did not have them. Often mistaken but never confused. I'll take my beating now.

Usually, it is something basic and simple that gives us so much trouble. When in doubt go back to the basics - Compression, Ignition, and Fuel - in that order. Owen_Dyneto was right, again.

As for the guy you sent over here, cool I'll do what I can. I don't post on the PAC forum, in fact I'm not even registered there.[/quote]

Eric, I'll remind him to contact you about 327 - 288 parts swap.

Phils38cpe is right, this is an easy way to do it. It was there all the time and I never noticed it. Should have had more faith in Kevin providing us with good tools.

.quoteSince Kev hasn't put in a "quote" button to reply to posts, you have to copy the text you want, then use [.quote] to start, then [./quote] to finish.
Remove the . in the "quote" section, I did this so you could see it and it wouldn't actually quote anything./.quote

Eric, thanks. Let's see if this works.

By the way there is a guy on the PAC discussion forum looking for info about using 327 crank & rods in a 288 block. I referred him to you, but you may want to help him before he asks.

Edit: Looks like I am close but not quite there.

Question: How do I quote text from a posting to be included in my reply to it? This to me like it is some kind of copy and paste function, but the quoted section is always highlighted. I have figured this out on other sites, but so far my "synaps" are not firing on this one. Thanks.

clipper47, that would be the fuel line.

Others, feel free to search for other v-belts, I am done with that.
