John:

Thanks. I tested all the of connection and had no continuity even when it was pulled all the way out. I took it apart and found that the wire was broke at the very end of the lighter coil. It appears there is a bakelite(maybe) insulator in the center of the lighter shell. Any idea how you get that out?

Thanks

I have used both AER in Lansing, MI and Ecourse auto electric in Romulus, MI.

Both shops do very good work.

Per the wiring schematic the horn is always powered and by pushing the horn button it completes the circuit and makes the horn activate.

Horn is good as I can power it up and manually ground it and it wooorrrks loudly.

1928 Horn Button -wiring issue

I have removed the horn button cover from my 1928 steering wheel. I see one wire I think goes to the bottom of the steering wheel shaft where the light switch steering gear cover is located.

I do not get any continuity between the horn button when depressed and the horn terminal (#9). (According to the manual, the horn button goes to ground and makes the horn activate)

How easy is it to replace the wire for the horn button?

Thanks,
Gar

How does it turn on? I would assume a switch somewhere? Maybe in the socket of the bake-light?

Thanks for giving me the link to the doc.

I did check the steering gear and connections and they are all consistently tight but still movable. What I did find was a service letter vol-2 no-17 that discusses a front spring trunnion and bracket.

There are four heavy coil springs inside the trunnion.I did notice that the springs have some play in them and are not snug on the top of the trunnion.

Should these springs be tight on the top and the bottom of the trunnion?

Please see attached picture...

I may try to place some wood shimms inside the trunnion to close gap and see if that reduces the shimmy.

Can anyone tell me how the cigar lighter is supposed to work and how it should be wired?

My dashboard retractable cigar lighter is not operational. I have power to the unit but it never turns on when the lighter coil is pulled out.I do not know if the unit does not work or if it needs to be wired differently.

Thanks for the help.

I agree with Ross. Either way will work but you will get a better spark if it is hooked up correctly.
