I would check the distributor to see that the mechanical and vacuum advances are working.

After the coating was removed was a new coating of enamel applied?

No more lacquer protective coating. The cleaned chrome was given a good coat of wax.

PB Blaster penetrating lubricant has been found to be a good rubber weather stripping softener. I used it on the weather stripping around front door vent windows and it worked amazingly well.

Back in the day cooling systems were serviced twice a year: In the fall to add antifreeze and a thermostat; and in the spring to flush the system, add water with a water pump lubricant and remove the thermostat. When the thermostat was removed it was "gutted" and the base reinstalled so as to keep the flow rate restricted. Rinse and repeat.

You may want to see what California Car Covers has. I've used their covers an some of my cars and recommend them.

Looking at your carb.2 photo, one can see two slotted plugs on the side of the carb near the top. These ports are to check the level of the fuel in the bowls. Remove the plugs with the engine at idle and look for the fuel to be at of just below the ports. If fuel spills out, the float level is too high. Likewise, if fuel level is not visible or far below the ports, the float level is too low.

Ross offers the solution to timing the oil pump so the distributor rotor will be in the factory built position. Actually, rotor position for No. 1 can be in any one of the distributor cap's terminals and function, using correct firing order of course. However, this may lead to the vacuum chamber being in a position that may interfere with engine block or oil fill tube. A one tooth adjustment either way to orient the rotor so it is in the factory position is probably not necessary. Still, better to have it oriented correctly.
