Light positions on 35 senior eight
#61

My 1935 senior eight has four light positions. In park the parking bulbs come on. In city I get low beams. In drive I get high beams, but in the third position "passing" I get a high beam on one headlight and low beam on the other. Not wanting to assume anything and not being able to find the information, and I have looked, is this a short in my wiring or is the passing signal of the day.
Thank you
Andy

I went through the rebuild of my 35 eight last year. I have photos of the entire process. I will happily share any information you may need. Message me if you like. The advice to pull the head, valve covers, oil pan, drop rods and check everything for spec is in my opinion the best advice. If any parts are ready to let loose the damage caused can be catastrophic.

If the car is a senior eight there is no water distribution "tube" just the water distribution baffle that is part of the side cover on the left side of the block. Just remove the side cover, to get it off you will need to remove the oil fill tube.

The advice here was very much appreciated and put to use. The engine has been performing beautifully. I try to get the car out every weekend. I plan on driving it tomorrow and Sunday.

Thank you for the Five Points Rebuilder information. They are local to me, and will save me time and shipping costs.

Tomorrow I will add coolant, then change the oil and fire it up. I pick up my front seats tomorrow Am. I miss driving the car. It has been down 3 weeks now.

The head is back on. The distributor area is paint free. The water neck will seal fine, a new gasket and black silicon will see to that. I will re-torque it tonight, tomorrow am and then after running it a little while. The head gasket is an NOS Victor gasket, asbestos and steel. I will be picking up my front seats tomorrow.

I have a friend coming tomorrow to help me lift the head on.The old head is on the right, it will make a nice wall hanging. I have the Cormorant back from the plater. I assembled it and have it back on the car. The seat rebuild is well under way.

I chased all the head stud threads today. I hope to have the engine back up and running this coming weekend. If all goes well I will only be waiting a few weeks to get the seats back into the car.

The seat covers are not changing. I am going to have the springs re-tied and new foam installed. The front seats are like sitting in a hole, and all the seats are very lumpy.
