Stude also used Chevy rear ends in 65-66 instead of the usual tapered axles.

Oww! That's painfull even to look at, must be agonizing in person. Perhaps they should register it as a '39 Pinkard!

Funny you should show some hand cannons since we just fired a guy last night for bringing a loaded one to work. More than one way to "shoot" a factory...

Where I currently live, rust in one form or another is unavoidable unless buying a "museum piece". That said, ny Packard is originally from Canada and is still very solid. Used good steel back in the stone age. Some effective methods I've used on rust repair or treatment include using Por-15 over areas you don't want or can't remove reasonably and using All-Metal filler instead of Bondo for spot repairs and seam filling. The stuff is pricey but well worth it!

From what I see in your pic, body looks pretty good although a side pic would've been better. If the floors and rockers are still solid, then you're probably ok.

I've seen a car for sale with some kind of dual mode battery in it with 4 terminals. Supposedly, it used 12v for starting and the car ran off the other 2 terminals at 6v. I didn't buy the car so I can't say how well this worked.

Buy it! Looks like the interior is in fair shape and the body on these is real metal, not reprocessed beer cans.
