Thanks for the information. What I was looking for is the second windshield like shown in the factory photo below. Sorry. I should have been clearer in my description.

Thanks. I contacted the owner yesterday and he is going to send some closeup pics to me. With some luck they should help.
Again, Thanks.
Of course I'm still open to purchase the part I need.

I don't have my belt number here with me but that number looks like the one I remember. If it is it will be just slightly too long. I simply took the bracket off split it into and added two small strips of metal about an inch long. Dressed the welds and painted it. It looks original and works fine.
Good luck. Hopefully the belt you found works without any further modifications.

22nd23rd series convertible rear windscreen

I'm looking for information/parts for a windscreen that fits the 22nd or 23rd series convertibles. Specifically, I need the part that holds the glass. I could use pictures or engineering drawings of the part also. Oh yes, I could use the part number if anyone has it also. That might help me find more information.
I have one photo from the factory which shows it in place but it doesn't show the pieces too well.
Thanks.

Another place to check is the starter switch on the carburetor. If it is worn it could barely be making contact and the shake of starting could break contact. Take a push button starting jumper and bypass the switch. IT may very well isolate your problem.

Keep us informed.

Turbo:
I agree with most of what you have to say about the bathtub packards. However, I find evidence to believe that 22nd series Super Eight, at least convertibles, had chrome bumper inserts. I have attached a picture of the 2279 introduction. I own two of the 2279 convertibles, both of which came with chrome separators. One of which I am the third owner. The parts manual also lists both chrome and primered parts for the Supers.

Sorry to hear about the too short road trip. But, at the same time I realize that that is part of the fun. That's the way we accumulate all those old car stories.

I may have missed it in the above posts. But, you might check the heat riser in the exhaust manifold. If it sticks in the closed position, overheating is a guarantee.
