I believe there is a second commercial from Ross.
I just caught the last two seconds of it one night last week.
It showed a girl sitting on the front of the Packard with her feet on the bumper. The bumper is what caught my eyes. Knew immediately that it was just like mine. Have only seen it that one time.

Thanks for the advice. I picked up the tools below and they worked great. Had everything off in about 10 minutes and did not break a single piece.

Also below are a couple shots of my Parts Storage System. I hope it works. Its mostly for the nuts, bolts and over small items.

Lastly for tonight, its funny that you tell me to be careful Kevin. Those last two images are of my Cochlear Implants hanging onto the car. I am a bi-lateral cochlear implant recipient. In other words, I'm deaf but these fantastic devices allow me hear again. My real point is that these very expensive devices that I wear contain magnets. Therefore they stick to damn near everything. Every time I sit, stand, lie anywhere near this car they pop off my head. I guess I don't have to hear to work on the car but it's annoying to say the lease.

Someday, when I can find a good way to do so I'll work my kidney transplant into a post but until then I am thinking of changing my signature block to read "The worlds only stuttering, deaf, left handed, kidney transplant-te that owns a Packard". Its catchy!

Almost forgot the reason I logged on tonight.

Got the hood off today and its laying on my bench.

Before I do something stupid is there an easy way to remove those little clips that are holding the letters onto the hood. The image below shows what I am talking about but I am sure you already know.

I'm not sure what car that switch is from but it doesn't look like any of mine. Also I have to differ on the usefulness of those rusty tools. I used a bottle opener in the pile today to open my Corona. I'm wondering when the last time I had a tetanus shot.

That's where the over flow tube returns to the tank. Max gave the piece you just can't see it in the pic. It's not broken, just disconnected from the top half of the tube that you see in the image.

Got the fenders stripped this week and had time to take a closer look at that antenna yesterday.

Hooked up an old 12V bench tester that I found on Ebay for $16 and nothing happened. Removed the cover and found the nylon piece that raises and lowers it, broken in 3 places. The motor still wouldn't run with the cover off. I'm not sure I really going to worry about it right now. There are far too many aftermarket antennas out there. I'll revisit this later.

The wife and I had to take a road trip today about 2 hours north into Central Indiana. We were getting off the interstate at Franklin and I wasn't about to let the opportunity to stop in at Max Merritt's pass me by. I called him Tuesday to see if he had a fuel tank to fit the 400. He hooked me up with a non-refurbished tank off a 51 model. I don't think he was expecting me to say "I'll pick it up". He had it in the back of his truck when we arrived.

He didn't have any refurbished ones at the time because they are consolidating some warehouses into one location and all the equipment for that job is not set up at the moment. I'm just glad I got to meet Max and have a tank for my car. That was the last major missing piece for my Packard (I think). Wonder how much I saved in shipping?

The last image below is of the pile of free tools that were left in the truck from the previous owner. I meant to show it to you earlier but forgot. Their just a little rusty.

I have found my new favorite tool...PB Blaster. I've been stripping the front fenders of all their bling and it just wasn't going my way.

A little here and there and the next day it was like working on an entirely different fender. Got one done will finish the other soon.

I did get the antenna out. As soon as the other fender is stripped I'll have to give it some attention. Its extended and I can't store it that way so I need see if I can it retracted properly.

I did go a car show this weekend in Elizabethtown. They shutdown the whole down area for about 4 or 5 blocks. They had about 1800 cars show up. There was only lone Packard among legions of Chevy and Fords. A few pics below of the 55 Patrician and an Auburn from the show that I liked.

Fantastic weather here for late July so we are taking advantage as much as we can that just doesn't include much Packard time. Come September when the garden is mostly done I'll have a lot more time.

Thanks, there may be some corrosion under there. I tried the channel locks and it wouldn't budge. I'll take a look at this tool in the morning. As expensive as these antennas are I don't want to damage it.

Got both front fenders and all the dental work pulled this weekend. Spent a couple hours trying to strip everything else off the fenders. The turn signals are going to be the hardest as several of the screws have deteriorated to far to get a bite.
I need help getting the antenna removed. Can someone tell me what tool is used to remove the chrome cap. I need more then "spanner wrench" as that name is used to describe many, many different types of tools. Some of them that look like they may work on my Google search are $70 so I really don't want to be guessing.
Also, got asked the other day what type of restoration I was planning (complete restoration or other). My reply was "complete restoration" but after giving that some thought I realized that "complete restoration" to me may mean something entirely different to others. A better answer may be "complete restoration but not opposed to modifications that improve handling, performance and the life of the car". Having said all that I definitely want a Packard powered vehicle but that Chevy transmission conversion I was reading about in another thread sure looks promising to me.

Thanks for all the advice on the fender and grill removal. Its nice to know you Packardteers have got my back.

Got the fender off tonight. It now looks just like the image Kevin posted above. The two bolts inside the fender turned out to be no problem. Now those other two bolts underneath the head lights that hold on that top piece of chrome were another story.
That parts car idea is a good one but I don't see it happening.
It will be a couple days before I attempt the other side. Its pretty hot here this week. Not Death Valley hot but to hot to work out there.
I am a DOD employee and thanks to government furloughs I now have 3 day weekends until Oct 1. That gives me three cool mornings to work on either the Packard or our garden.
