Sure looks like a 35-38 top cover, awaiting #'s from edges of bearings

Both the 304123 and 304124 were used in all '35-'54 Packard transmissions except O/D trans and 35-39 V-12 and '35-'38 big eight and super 8.
Either they are misboxed or you do not have a Packard trans. Give me the #'s from the bearings themselves and the 6 digit casting # from the trans case Mysteries solved at no charge

" As well I think the (180) car is better proportioned."
Both the 120 and 180 are on a 127" chassis,, have the same hoods and thus the bodies are of identical length. What makes the 120 more appealing to you?

The metal in plug wires lasts in definitely so checking the resistance will probably yield no information except if the wire is not connected to a terminal. What does deteriorate is the rubber covering which you cannot determine with an ohmmeter. The reason it skips on acceleration is because the compression pressures are the highest then and the spark has to most difficulty jumping the plug gap so it chooses the path of least resistance which often is jumping from a wire to the block or another grounded item. When at idle the cylinder pressures are the lowest thus the skip will most likely not occur
A plug with too wide a gap will cause such a skip. I feel that it is ignition for sure. Could be a crack in the cap or a path inside the cap, could be a wire that is not connected to the terminal, could be a defective to too wide gapped plug, could be a cracked plug insulator. Let us know your progress. Good luck

Group 3EE is virtually identical in all dimensions to the 2E. Cadillac used the 2E in 50-53, then 3EE in 53 as I recall. 3EE is readily available from specialty antique battery suppliers in the US

As far as I know NAPA is a marketing company only and has no manufacturing facilities. It is easy enough to find out where the pads or other parts are made as the packaging must state so on it.

No, I am here both to learn and share info. I asked a question and stated the conditions, locations of where I have driven my various vehicles and the fact that I had no problems whatsoever. In addition the trip to the Centennial was in 90-95 degree weather across Ohio.
I have learned form the post that others have experienced a problem in other altitudes which may be a factor. Had I not posted my experiences and asked the question I would not have been educated on the subject. As Sgt. Joe Friday often said, "Just the facts" which is what I stated and what I received.

Perhaps the best and simplest way to find out the history is to write the seller.

". However, I'd like to point out that while the stock fuel system on an S8 was probably adequate back in the day, just with the advent of ethanol (10-15%), it is marginal today. "
?? I don't understand why a S8 fuel, system is inadequate today and marginal with ethanol. I have numerous S8's and have no problems. My '52 Patrician with 25,000 miles went to the Centennial in Ohio flawlessly and last year to Reading without a skip, clog, starvation or anything bad and it is 100% stock. Our V8's the same.
