Re: Continental Kit doesn't fit

your continental kit came off of a 1952 Patrician with a slightly different rear fender fit, these senior sedan kits are nearly impossible to find

the 53-54 Caribbeans actually have a senior rear fender section grafted onto them, if you look inside the trunk in the taillight area you can see the end of the std. convertible rear fender taillight area still remaining, the Caribbean trunk lids are the same size as regular convertibles, the Caribbeans had a unique continental kit especially made for them so the Continental kit was designed to fit the body modifications made by Ionia Manufacturing Company. The regular 53 and 54 continental kits for the coupes and standard convertibles were not the same as the Caribbeans. Also the 53 Caribbean and 54 Caribbean continental kits are vastly different.

the video says Hughes was married to Jean Peters but does not say WHEN they were married so the video IS NOT wrong.... This car was tied back to Jean Peter's ownership back in the 1970's when THIS WAS NOT a particularly valuable car. by the way, Jean Peters HATED the 3 tone color scheme and parked the car in her garage where it stayed sitting for over 20 years.

I know of a lot of celebrity ownership stories that are very weak but this is not one of them

as Leeedy mentions, the ownership provenance of this car is VERY well covered

I looked for months and found an intake for $1000 bucks and only found 1 very rough correct Batwing air cleaner for sale for 2 grand, Daytona Carb felt like they had enough parts laying around to build a correct pair of matching 55 Caribbean carbs but did not think they could build the linkage assembly, a place on ebay reproduces the carb tags with part numbers on them, I heard Ole' Book had two sets for sale but his sold almost instantly. I think a rebuild-able package is worth 4 to 5 grand and a rebuilt restored "concours" package would bring 7 to 8 grand nowadays

I did not know that 46 through 50 Custom 8 hubcaps are $3000 each and new tires are $1300 each. I also did not know that the non-division window cars are much rarer than the division window cars.

every 54 359 equipped car except for some Henney built models had Ultramatic as std. equipment. Another reason the 54 Cavalier is less common than the Patrician. By the time you brought a 54 Cavalier up to a medium option level it cost the same as a Patrician anyway. Any 54 Convertible with std. shift has been altered.

there were 2 of these at the 1999 National meet, I know of one for sale in New York and one in Maryland, that makes 4 or 5 surviving cars, I bet they did make 50 to 55 of these, I heard that were all in +/- 50 of the 1189 made in serial number range, still a very rare car, these cars look great in pictures but even better in person, a gorgeous color combination

I have a NOS roof emblem , horn button, and radiator emblem for the 54 Carnation and Amethyst Pacific which means they did apparently stock spare parts for this color scheme
