Well new plugs new wires new points and condenser new coil new cap and rotor. Same problem starts up runs like a Packard should. After a few minutes starts running rough and keeps getting worse. Engine temp is around 165 degrees warm. I checked it with a heat gun. Put my hand slightly over the carb to see if it would smooth out it did not.

I got the new tires and tube mounted and balanced. Also I had my transmission rebuilt by a well known transmission guy. He said he really didn’t rebiuld them anymore but if washed all the parts he would do it. That is back in the car . Im working on a few wiring issues with the overdrive but I think I have that figured out. Also working on the exhaust I have the pipe mounted on the exhaust manifold and I think I located a muffler. I bought a gas tank a Hershey and then I took it to be cleaned and coated.OUCH!! I still need to get the sender. KM life styles said they could make 1 so by the time the gas tank is installed that will be almost 1000. Dollars

i dont think its the switch because i put a jumper wire from the battery cable at the starter to the coil while it was running to see if it would smooth out it did not. But by doing that i eliminated the old wiring and switch.

1941 160 runs rough when warm. If i leave the car sit for 5 minutes and restart the car it will run smooth a few minutes, then eventually it will start running rough. The other day it was warm and i shut it off. About an hour later I started it again it ran smooth. I was thinking the coil or condenser may be breaking down when hot. I don not have the oringinal coil on the car its an aftermarket do to key switch is also aftermarket. I saw in the parts cross reference that a coil number should be Ic-1 but when i went to the auto parts the guy said it was a 12 volt coil so what other number would work 6 volt positve ground ?

After finding a wire off at key switch, and replacing blown fuse at starter. also cleaned the contacts on the relay. I had 2 wires at solenoid that had power. 1 of those wires went to the hold and the other wire went to the push terminals. Even with the solenoid grounded the solenoid the solenoid pulsates. I saw the guy check the solenoid. But i think next time I get a chance I will pull solenoid back out and test again on the bench.I was able to get the solenoid hooked to pawl on the trans when it was pulsating. The car has been sitting since 1979 maybe the solenoid is bad.

1941 160 overdrive solenoid

I had my trans rebuilt. i am installing it now. i am trying to install the solenoid on the right rear overdrive. I cannot get the shaft of solenoid to hook to the mechanism inside the overdrive I am able to get it hooked if i remove the spacer in the picture but with the spacer on it seems to be slightly to short. I moved the rear shaft of trans and can get the mechanism to move in further, so the overdrive is in gauged. is there a way to wire up solenoid temporally to extend so i could hook it up the solenoid was tested and does work.

The t5 transmission is an overdrive trans . I have no problem driving the car but I would like to go a little faster. Also my wife drove the car 1 time and that was enough to tell me that is a bad idea.
