Good Morning all...

'Miss Prudence' our 1949 - 2362 Deluxe would like to wish all her Packard Sisters and their caretakers a 'Happy Thanksgiving'.

Good Morning Kasli...

I would start with Max Merritt and Kanter Auto Products. They are the two largest parts suppliers.

Good Evening all..

I know it is not from a Model 'A' ford because I have a 1931 Tudor and all Model 'A' Fords had/have Foot Starters. It's a little shaft that goes through the floor boards and right to the trigger on the top of the starter. I had a 1949 Ford and it had a chrome starter button with a smooth ring around it this one has little notches around the exterior ring. It might/must have been after market. It seems to me that it is two wire.

Thanks, Ernie

Good Morning all...

'Miss Prudence' our 1949 - 2362 with a 288 engine does not have a starter switch on the carburetor. I can't see that she ever had one. Instead, she has a starter button, just to the left of the ignition switch. I like it! However, I have seen this button, or one like it on a few cars that I have seen on the internet. I wonder if this button was a Dealer Extra or a Packard Company Extra or a few owners with wild hairs? Does anyone know?

Thanks, Ernie

Good Evening...

I recommend that you make sure your battery terminals are clean and that the connections on the other ends of the cables are clean and bare metal to bare metal.

On 'Miss Prudence', we also use Marine Terminals on our battery which allow an easy second positive ground cable to run between the positive battery terminal and the frame, by drilling a 5/16" screw hole in the frame, down in front of the battery.

The battery cables should be 00 cables with soldered ends. The parts are usually available at NAPA. The second ground cable really makes a difference with a nice hot ZAP spark. 'Miss Prudence is a 1949 2362 with a 288 engine and she has started much easier since the second ground cable was installed.

Good afternoon all...

Like many of us, I read Packard Information and The Packard Club on a daily basis. Today, I can't get the Packard Club...I end up with something that seems to belong to Packard Computers. Does anyone know about this?

Thanks, Ernie

Good afternoon all...

Miss Prudence is beginning to make a bit of noise and I have a NAPA store just down the street. Does anyone know the manufacturer and part numbers for the front wheel bearings? I know I can get them from major suppliers, but it takes several days.

Thanks, Ernie

Good Morning...

I use three sources for parts for our Packard, 'Miss Prudence'.

They are Max Merritt Auto, Kanter Automotive, and Packard Seattle Company.

I normally start with Max at 317-736-6233.
