Piece by piece, screw by screw. Sometimes it seems excessively slow, but you are progressing. Good work!

I have one in my Caribbean and that is the first one I've ever seen. Other Packard folks I know have never seen one.
I believe they were supplied thru Studebaker as their cranks were all forged.

What a great post and pleasant surprise. No griping, no problem - just an observation about enjoying your Packard.
Thank you - I enjoy mine also.

It is located underneath the air vent tube on the drivers side which is about five inches in diameter. Look down between the exhaust manifold and that vent tube and you will see the three wires going into the top of the switch.

Watch out for the Aussie who will be drumming on you to register your Packard. He's a nice chap and just wants to keep everything up to date.

I have two kits, both labeled 436199. One has a Packard label, with no mention of Studebaker or S-P. The other has a Studebaker label with no mention of Packard or S-P. Both contain the same identical repair kit which is the front Senior universal kit. Both covers say DETROIT, not DETROIT Lubricator.

I just loaned ACOlds some old mags from 51 and 52 and there is an ad in one of them for Detroit universals.
Al, does the ad mention Detroit Lubricator??
