Think of a shake down cruise as verification that you did all the preliminaries right, rather than a hurt for what needs to be fixed.

Those tires sound like something that could start a conversation where the first two words were "I thought."

Brakes
Steering
Cooling
Engine
Tires
Electrical
Cell phone charge

Are a good sequence. Ever move a car around the garage with no brakes? There's a two word expletive for that one. It starts like O'Daily.

Bernie,

I did all that except the Tires part, so, no, I'm not trying to break anything that I could anticipate, and I anticipate tire failure no matter what I'm driving or where.

Two things that I would add to the list are: Oil, and Spare Tire (preferably inflated).

Also, lots of stuff to keep in the trunk like brake fluid, power steering fluid, mixed 50/50 coolant, duct tape, funnels, tow rope, etc.

Probably most important of all, a Halon fire extinguisher under the seat.
