Miller cars had nothing to do with Packard, other than Leon Duray's use of the Proving Grounds. Here's a more recent picture of Leon Duray's Miller 91 front wheel drive car:

Packard Cable (a division of General Motors) was a sponsor of the beautiful Miller race cars. This where the confusion comes from, Packard Cable not Packard Motor Cars.
