Yeah, I have thought about that.

Hopefully, this car will only be a fair-weather driver. But I plan on covering this in vinyl anyway. So that should help with any moisture. I can spray the back side with some paint to help seal it.

Unlike door panel material, mat board might absorb moisture and being in a space that might see water tend to buckle or warp. I don't know if it would help much but maybe a coat of shellac or acrylic fixative spray would kind of moisture proof or stabilize it.

I also have a restored ready to install later 37 unit that many believe is 38-39, but was introduced late 37 when Packard ran out of the above round version. Its in the service bulletins as such..

Continuing with making the panels for the rumble seat area, the middle piece wraps down from lock latch and goes underneath.

Since this needed to bend, I used door panel board-like material. I couldn't find any door panel board around here, and getting a single sheet of it shipped costs more than the piece itself as they are usually 32x48.

So I found a cheaper, readily available alternative—an uncut picture framing mat board. My local Micheals store had black-on-black 32x40 mat board for about $14 a sheet.

I cut the mat board out using Gary's template and then rolled it over a shipping tube I got parts in from Max Merrit to put the radiused bend into it.

The last picture shows it roughly in place. Just held there by the cheek panels. Once I fasten it in place, it should be a nearly perfect fit.

The same on my 120C. (I received enough to do a 4 door I think from Kanter) so I put them on both the top door panel trim and the door itself, placing the dressed end at the door opening and burying the cut end at the vent end. As there was no holes in the door trim panel nor the door skin on mine and the paint was already done, I simply used a strong urethane adhesive.
I have no idea if it is 'as original' because there was no archival evidence of anything left on my car when I got it, but am very happy with the result. You are right, no window rattle and also no unsightly gaps and smooth window action. I still have a fair amount left over too!

Dirt, crud, grime, detritus, flaking paint, Minor surface deterioration (rust), spider webs, insect carcasses, dung, grease, wd-37, and other unknown foreign substances that may require acid dipping, pressure washing, radiation, or other chemical neutralization processes.

Also note since you are in California, this item will be appropriately labeled with the proposition 65 warning to address your cancer concerns, as well as the Flackmaster warning that 86 year old Packard parts carry appropriate tetanus warning, and cautionary statements about inserting ones fingers or other body parts into spinning fan motors, sharp edges on metal parts and other such appropriate advisories such as caution should the part be found anywhere where it should not be, the kitchen sink, breakfast table under the bed, etc.

Sure you want it?

While we are on the topic, did the '37 115-C Convertible Coupe have those whiskers? Unlike my 54, I didn't see any holes indicating where they would have attached along the top of the door between it and the glass.

humanpotatoehybrid.
Thats an issue with my 55 400. will only pull 14 gallons of gas before it is "empty". Could be rusted pin holes or a split in the pickup tube seam. For now...working with 150 mile range around town:{ until I can dive into the tank.
