I don't believe the hole is threaded but it's also a bit crudded so I didn't actually look. I'll check tomorrow but I've never had an Ultramatic open.

Looks like it's just a speed nut?
The twin ultras use one on the inside but of slightly different proportions.

I think I am going to go with 5/16" glass stick out. It was between that and 3/8". But I'd rather do tighter than looser since I need as much space at the rear as possible.

It's steel and with a single hole it looks like some kind of hold-down clamp. It's possible it's from one of my other makes of cars but so far Imperial has been eliminated leaving only Cadillac if it's not Packard but I did not do any work on the Cadillac that might have produced such a part into the drain pan.

What's it made of? It doesn't look like any internal engine part.

I’ve been doing some serious house cleaning of the shop which is still a mess from the insulation and now even more so after a partition was added last week. In the process of cleaning things for better storage, I found this part under a little oil in the bottom of a large plastic drain tray and have no idea what it is or where it came from. It may not be Packard but in case it is, does anyone recognize it? It’s about an inch wide and two inches long.
The unidentified piece The first phase of the wall, later to go all the way across.
