See attached photo from the right front wheel on my 640. On my three 1929`s, which I restored completely by myself, all brakes shoes are equal, the inner diameter on all four drums are equal, the same thickness of all brake linings, and the cars brakes wonderful.

I`m using 6V lead/acid batteries. Batteries where I have the possibility to refill water and control the status of the battery cells. My batteries last for at least 6 years, and it`s only a question about maintaining the batteries.
I`m using a 165Ah, 6V battery, one of the largest you can get in Europe (EU.165-6V Exide Vintage). They will completely the space of the battery box. Could start current capacity is 900A.

I have a moulding for the top of the front seat, in solid aluminium, for sale.
This moulding in aluminium has a slight different curve compared with the steel moulding for 633/640 Phaeton and 633/640 Touring The overall width in front is 50 1/2 in. The overall width in back is 52 1/8 in. The overall length on both side (outside) is 8 1/4. A more accurate pattern or dimension drawing can be made.

Top folding iron. Which year and body type?

For some years ago I bought a 640 Phaeton project, mostly in pieces, including a complete set of top folding irons, which I later on recognized that did not belong to a 633 nor a 640 Phaeton.
Do anyone know if this top folding irons belong to a Packard, and if so, to which year and body type? The top folding irons shall have 4 bows, and the irons have the appr same overall lenght (back to front) as for a 7-pass 633/640 Touring, but do not with for this body type. It`s a special detail close to the aft bottom part, as marked on the attached photo, which can be usefull to identfy the the top folding irons orign. I came across a engine with a correct engine number belonging to the 1929 Super 8 series. But the engine number located in the front left motor mount include the letter "C" in the end.
What do the "C" in the end of engine number mean?

A stamped rocker arm can be replaced with a forged rocker arm. For a 1929 I know that the forged rocker arm from e.g. 1934 is little bit longer, and then it is needed to change the position between camshaft and crankshaft with one tooth, to secure the correct timing.

Balancing connecting rods

Do anyone have any information about the maximimum difference in weight between the pistons and connecting rods from the Packard factory in the 1930, or which max weight difference between the connecting rods should be achieved by rebiulding a Packard engine today? On the today modern engine I have been told that the max weight difference between the connecting rods should be 1 to 2grams. But the Packard engine is a low speed and a long stroke engine. Should also balancing the connecting rods by weighing the big and small ends be performed on a engine overhaul today?
