The Steele catalog shows 2 different styles of door rubber for the 1951. I purchased the one that was supposed to be more popular but the door would not close. I purchased the other style and it worked better. I suggest that whatever you purchase to just get enough to do one door to check it out.

Yes, there is a molded piece of rubber strip that attaches to the metal strip.

Thanks. I thought that was I remembered a few years ago when I removed it. I have been looking at some non Packard vehicles lately and saw the rubber on the body and started to wonder.

Does the door weather stripping on a 1951 200 4 door go onto the door or the body?

Thanks

If all you want to know is how the choke works, it is all mechanical by the spring inside the black plastic housing. When the spring is cold the choke is closed and as it heats up the spring opens the choke. I recently rebuilt the carb on my 51 and the directions with the kit, the service manual and the service bulletin were obviously written by different people as they use different names of the same parts and it takes a lot of close reading to figure them out. I spent a lot of hours rebuilding the carb which should have taken a lot less time.

I watched your video on line and it seems to me that the arms and tabs are working fine. The two tabs or arms if I am looking at it correctly do not connect

I believe your problem is with the choke adjustment. With the carb cold connect the outside plastic cover with the spring back onto the carb body and adjust the cover so that the tab just closes the throttle. That should adjust your cold idle speed correctly.

I am in need of someone who has installed door weatherstripping on a 51 Packard for some advice. Actually I believe that 51-54 doors are similar.
