Thanks for the encouragement and advice, the nut is still on the axle and I re-positioned the puller to different lugs so hopefully that will help. I will try some heat, and see if that makes a difference.

Still working on the brakes, I am on the left rear wheel and the drum does not want to cooperate. I have my puller on there and am giving the T bone a wack with my heavy hammer every time I am in the vicinity, but it still won't come off. I may try a little heat but don't have a real torch, just propane and I don't have much confidence in it helping. I will just keep at it and hopefully it will let go. I have replaced most of the brake lines/hoses and will finish up in the next few weeks. I am getting anxious to get this on the road and see how it performs.

Finally getting started on the brakes that I put off all winter, much to cold here to get anything done. I will be replacing all the wheel cylinders and all new lines. I need to crawl under and see how the front line is routed under the motor, I think that may be the most difficult one to replace, and the short ones from the master going to the front block might also be tricky--there just isn't much room. I removed the vent hose and the battery and I think I can get in there. I am looking forward to getting this on the road, I have driven many old cars but never a 55 with torsion suspension, it should be fun. So far I have 2 wheel cylinders replaced--

What a great car!! Good luck with it, my advice is to get it roadworthy and drive it. Too many get a car and then start to take it apart, then, they lose interest and it just becomes a pile of parts. Please post more pictures.

I finally have the master off and will be sending it to Ed Strain in Fla. I have new wheel cylinders and should replace all the hoses and brake lines. I don't look forward to replacing the lines but know I should, then at least I will be able to stop without worrying about popping a line. Very cold here in New England, I will take a careful look later this week and get started on the lines, I think once I start it will go fairly well. I am getting too old to look forward to getting under and working on my back, but will be glad I did when I am driving in the spring.

Here is an update on my car, I re-installed the repaired transmission cooler and radiator. So far, it looks good, no leaks and the car runs well. I am just letting it run in the garage, it has no brakes right now and it is cold in NH. We even have a little snow on the ground so it will be in the garage until spring. I removed the carpet and my next project will be getting the master out and having it rebuilt. I do have one question, one of the windows doesn't work from the door, I removed the door panel and the block that pushes on the switch is falling apart. What do people suggest to replace this part. I thought I might look for some push on connectors and splice them into the current wires? There isn't much extra wire in the door, it makes it difficult to work on it. Any suggestions? thanks, Dave

I haven't had much luck if the mice have been in there, the smell is difficult to remove. I have tried Ozone and it might help a little. Make sure you remove any nest, they seem to like the headliner. I also tried some liquid made to treat cat urine odor, that also helped, but nothing seems to remove it completely. Good luck!

I have the transmission oil cooler off and am getting it repaired, there were some small holes where the hoses attach. I cut the old hoses off, I was going to go to the parts store and try to find some that would work but thought I would ask if anyone has any numbers that will work for these 2 short pieces of hose. I am going to take the master out and have it rebuilt over the winter, I want it to be as good as it can be. I have new wheel cylinders and will be checking lines and hoses as well. Thanks for any input. Dave

Hi, I plan to check out my coolant leak this weekend. I can't really see where it is coming from, radiator looks dry and the leak is down low. I think it may be the lower hose but won't know for sure until I pull the radiator out and see what I can find. Here is my question, the transmission cooler is in the lower hose, is that a likely spot to leak? Do the coolers typically cause problems? I know, it is 60 years old--I don't see any indication of antifreeze on the transmission dipstick. What should I be looking for? Thanks for any suggestions.
