Owen, i know about the shutter thermostat and mine works fine thank god. what i am trying to find out is if there is a copper/brass thermostat for the engine like the ones used on cars today.

Jim, my water pump is on the front just above the crank pully. i looked and could not find any numbers.

thanks guys, Dave

Hello all, the top radiator hose on my 29 popped so i took it off to replace it and when i looked in the Thermostat housing i noticed there is no thermostat. given that i am new to cars made before 1950 should there be a thermostat or were they not in use at this early a time? if there is supposed to be one where can i find the correct one to install.

thanks, Dave

thank you to all, i have checked some of the parts sites and have found a few E.I units that would work. i am not interested in a permanent alteration. just something for reliable use over a period of time. i currently have 2 sets of points as spares. but since i drive my car about 20 miles per week who knows how long they will last. i was mainly looking to see if anyone else has switched over and to see the results.

thanks, Dave

Eugene - what is the problem? i just did extentive work on my 29's fuel system maybe i can help. if it is not drawing fuel from the fuel tank check the supply line for a hole or dent caused by a stone or other road debris.

GTO - it is a 1929 640, i am not having trouble with the ignition system, yet. just trying to find alternatives to expensive repairs down the road. and as we all know "points" ign. systems are not the most reliable. i figure some day all the spare parts will be gone and i want to keep it running for my children and eventual grandchildren if possible.

thanks, Dave

Hello, with the scarcity and antiquation of breaker points ignition parts have any of you ever tried one of those breakerless ignition conversion kits?

if so, how did it work?

thanks, Dave

i received my new float from Classic Exotic and its fits perfect and works great. no more gas leaking from the airhorn. the idle is better and the acceleration is great.

have a great day, Dave Smith
