I thought I isolated this problem ,not.when i turn the ignition on my "38 12 amp gauge goes to max draw, battery drops at least a half a volt she will start and will get some charge but only at high revs.I switched ignition switch no help, removed light switch cleaned terminals the two resistors points appeard fine, same problem tried bypassing the switch altogether and only hooking up the feed to the ignitiion switch not even hooking up the starter button still amp gauge goes to the max, only when I disconnect the armoured coil wire no drain checked the connections in the bottom of the coils, ok my only guess is I have either bad coil, regulator, generator, coilwire help, please

ok, here's what I tried after finding the fault in the ignition coil or coil wire. I bypassed the ignition switch hot wired + to fuel pump, starter switch, cut the coil wire to the ig.switch and hot wired that together, bingo! works great also tried coil wire direct to the batterer y ,bingo, bingo. just don't know whether I should be doing this till I locate another Ignition switch .a little bit of knowledge is dangerous

could it also come from a disconnected ground wire either from the regulator, generator or whatever?

when ignition is turned on,amp gauge goes to full negative, and of course when engine is running it will not charge. my sense is short. disconneted elec. fuel pump, no change, coil wire from ignition switch seems to be ok, any thoughts?
