Stewart,

Great looking setup. Love the space for working on the wiring and having the fenders up and easy to reach.

Shame about the windshield. Kpacks windshield busted too if I recall.

Are these hardtops windshields just more susceptible to cracking?

Making my way to the rear brakes, the drums came off much easer than I expected using the puller. The hardware is in fairly good shape, but I will need new wheel cylinders. When I looked at the parts cross reference I saw 2 part numbers for Autozone. They were on the website for purchase so I ordered them, only to have Autozone cancel the order immediately. Does anyone have another part number for the “1 diameter rear wheel cylinders?

What about 3D printing the piece, or silicone molds to recast it?

I've seen a few listings that mention contacting them outside of Facebook.

But I've also seen a few listings that made me suspicious, so who knows.

I believe Packard Holdings does still, unless thats changed. Article quoting Gullickson, the owner:

https://www.hagerty.com/media/buying-and-selling/if-you-want-to-buy-packard-ask-the-man-who-owns-it/

"We are interested in selling the company by way of selling all of the issued shares of the company, now held by my wife’s and my holding company, Packard Holdings Inc. Purchase of those shares would give the buyer 100% control of the company, and ownership of all of the assets, consisting of the Packard name trademark for automobiles and parts, the prototype Packard automobile, a certain amount of toolage, and all of the engineering drawings and calculations, suppliers names and contact information, and spare parts."

Took some time to mount the fuel tank. Went relatively smoothly. First I compared the old fuel sender to the new, and bent the new one to match the travel of the old. I’ve also installed the new fuel pump up front. I installed an after marker fuel filter just before the pump, to catch and residual crud in the line from the tank to the pump. As I was all set to crank the car over, when I turned the key the starter labored for a bit then wouldn’t do anything. Back in early 2021 I got it to turn over nicely and even fired off ether, so not sure what’s wrong from it just sitting. The motor still turns freely and the battery was just charged, and read 12.63 volts. Should I yank the starter to confirm it is working? It’s a hassle so I’m open to suggestions before attempting that…

As someone fairly ignorant on the various pros and cons of the available transmissions to swap in, could someone explain the appeal of the Tourqueflite as a substitute for the Ultramatic, so much so that a kit was designed for it?
