Cut front springs

I replaced the front coils on my '49 ..... just saying I really hate when someone ruins things . I was really just upset someone did this . But looks like the set of springs that was sacrificed was not Packard springs . Here's what I took out compared to put back . The service manual on replacing them by unbolting the lower from the frame was really easy and flawless !!! Didn't even take the front tires off . So to anyone doing this job that's the only way to go ...

Ok just for clarity , the Packard service manual is saying to replace the front coil springs by in bolting the lower control arm from the frame and letting the jack down to release the spring . Has anyone actually replaced the coils like that ?

latest thing I've heard is using a heat gun and a body dollie to help form the nylon around the contours . now I did look again at mine and there is a piece of vinyl attached to the firewall and 2 rows of sewing holes where I assume carpet may had been but I thought the 22nd cars had rubber on the front ?

Yup your correct the 22's had rubber mat in the front . Far as my situation anything would be better than bare metal .
