Unfortunately she looks WAY better in pictures then she does in real life, but don't get me wrong not a single floor or spot in the trunk is rusted through :)

Trying the pictures again...

Yes the bright red eclipse in the background is my other car, don't make fun.

Anyway, as bikev was saying if this is correct for the year then it stays, as much as I love the 54 style.

Hey all I've come to notice almost every patrician 400 I see has the winged hood ornament yet mine does not. Is it just a lower end ornament?

So it turns out the firewall number and the door number are the same. Didn't someone say that was rare to have?

Anyway I got all my paperwork done, sent them all to the previous owner he's filling them out and sending them back monday. Then it's going to be about a month before Kentucky can "find" an original title from the archives. Then just have to transfer the car over to me and then restoration will FINALLY begin, after have the car for over 6 months I will finally be the owner haha.

I'll be making another post in regards to 6v to 12volt swap if any can chime in to help out!

Owen_Dyento the VN is 2652 4876. I will be working on her today or tomorrow and can get the stamped number off the firewall then.

Everyone thank you so much for your help!

So, please no one laugh at me for this but I went to go try to the door again this morning. Well, I got in through the passenger door and tried to pull the driver door handle to no avail. Went and locked and unlocked from the outside, went back to the inside, then back to the outside. Then I went back in finally kinda of leaned against the door and laid on the seat fed up, and just gingerly put my hand on the door handle and it flung right open!!!!!! I was so confused. Well turns out I just never felt the door unlatch through the handle so I thought it wasn't unlocking, turns out it was. I feel like such an idiot, and that I have no car knowledge now =(

But I got it open and a deputy is coming to do my VIN inspection within the hour!!!!!

Thanks everyone again for your help! Hope you got a little laugh out of my situation lol!

Will be starting building blog shortly! Stayed tuned!

G'day Stephen,
A warm to PackardInfo to you and your '53 Pat.
And for including your '53 Patrician Touring Sedan in the Packard Owners Registry. I've taken the liberty of deleting two duplicate entries so we don't triple up on your car in the Registry.

Wish you well in getting the Pat's paperwork sorted out.

See I thought I had already entered it in, but I didn't see it so I re-entered mine, oh well thanks Ozstatman!

Unfortunately, that won't work on a Packard because all the hinge bolts are either inside the jamb on the cowl side or under the panel on the door side. Striker and lock assy is same way--screw heads are on the jamb side.

Since the window trim molding has to unscrew and then lift up and out to remove the panel, the door has to be open. Without that off, the only way to remove the panel is to just cut it because it also has to pull out to clear spring clips and up to clear the arm rest bracket and then out again to have the spring clips clear their holes. With the windlace, doorframe, seat and all in the way, that won't happen without some destruction. The way the upholstery wraps around the panel, I can't think of a way to loosen that enough to access the panel near the latch for an access hole either.

Thanks for the input both of you. See I don't see why it won't unlock by turning the handle or using the key, because all it was is the little lock/unlock pin trim came out, I don't see how that would interfere with the mechanism working.

Oh well I will monkey around with it all night tonight if I have to and hopefully bring some insight to all in this matter.

Thanks so much guys, I guess I really need to get that flipping driver door open :/

The car is to be registered in Kentucky, so I'm hoping they can use the body number and match up. Hopefully this inspector knows a few things about cars so maybe I can "persuade" him to use the stamped body code.

But if you guys had to guess as what was used in the 80's for the registration in kentucky would you say its the actually code in the door jam?

Side note: Anyone know how to get the door panel off with the door closed??
