THANKS to Oz, Kev, and others for maintaining one of the best automotive sites (THE best?) on the web.

Many of us come here because you have a wonderful site, we love Packards, and we do not own our own Packard yet.

Also, you likely have lots of inactive members, for all sorts of reasons.

Hi all.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much a new headliner installed should cost? '51 4-door. Just looking for a ballpark from the folks that own one... Thanks

Thank you, Owen. I'm sure 51 was a similar breakdown.

I still do not see numbers by 2-/4-door breakdown on PI. Only the numbers by model. But this will do.

Production numbers by model for 1951 & 1952? (specifically 2-doors)

Hi all.

Do we have this info on the web page anywhere? I did some searching, but did not find anything. I was specifically interested in how many 2-door sedans/coupes (2-door with pillar) were made in 1951 & 1952?

(UPDATE: I see under the model info pages here it list "total" production for each trim level, but not broken down by 2-door vs. 4-door... so still looking...)

thanks
Mike

As always, thanks for the pearls of knowledge!

To summarize on the ultramatic swap: "not an easy swap. Not a good plan.". *grin*

Curious: can one install a '49-'54 ultramatic into a '48 3-speed car? What all is required for the swap?

(Not saying I would necessarily, just know of a body w/engine & separate tranny I might be able to get my hands on...)

Curious (since I have only driven ultramatics): How can you tell if a 48-54 manual shift has overdrive? Switch? body scrpit? soundtrack?

thanks.

Thanks. Interesting historical context there (old timers wanting the familiar manuals, development of the ultramatic timing, etc). Explains some of it.

I guess I need to find someone with a manual that will let me drive it. Try it out. Time to bug my local club-mates!

I used to be a manual tranny guy, but in stop-n-go traffic of metro detroit, I admit I have grown weary of it these days. But I keep thinking I would get more umph out of a standard tranny Packard...

Thanks.
