The 1940 356 water pump is a one year only item. The shaft and hub are shorter than the 1941-50 356 pumps. You may have a 1940 only one from years ago.

I think all of us have had a milk crate in our Packards during restorations. My wife sat on a crate and started the car for her first time.

Originally Packard left an uncarpeted area under the seat. They had a front carpet and a rear carpet. The two seams you see in the photo are absolutely correct because that is where the front a rear carpets met. The first seam is 14 inches back from the door opening and the second seam is 26 inches back. I did not want to leave an uncarpeted area under the seat but I maintained the original seams. The carpet is advertised in the Cormorant news bulletin by Neal Porter. Very high quality carpet. My upholstery shop sewed it into place.

!955 carpet is different than the 1956 carpet for the Caribbean, Patricians and 400's. The 1956 is a cut pile and the 1955 is a loop. The advertised carpet is absolutely correct for the 1956 seniors. It is not correct for 1955 seniors. It is a great reproduction for 56 owners.

Leedy is correct. Maybe the chrome piece you received was re-chromed and the polishing process caused it to warp.

This is terrible news. The Packard automobile people have lost a good friend.

If you cannot see the tag on your distributer, look at your generator or starter. The cars are either auto-Lite or Delco. They were not mixed matched. The Packard autolite number for your points is 354262. If you have a Delco system then the Packard number is 439205. Any of the Packard vendors should have new original parts available.

The Chinese do not care what happens to people who buy their crap. They are only for China in whatever they do. From lead covered toys, phony drugs, tools that will kill people, they just do not care. Their only desire is not to get caught. Think virus.
