Looking good Mal,

I got the parts for the waterpump yesterday that Wade needed. So I'll drop that down on Tuesday when we get back to Aus. The front number plate bracket looks very nice. Got the new Alternator as well so that should be nice.

The trip to the Nethercutt was fantastic by the way & was great to meat Kev, we had a great day :)

Has Wade mentioned anything to you about the crack in the cylinder wall?

Take care mal & will catch up soon

cheers,
Mat

Hi Wade & Mal,

Looks like that car is keeping you both busy. The charger for the booster should be in the trunk.

The water pump has sure seen better days... Can you confirm what year/model water pump that is and i'll make a few last minute enquiries before i come home.

Lets hope that the front wheel is okay, how are all the other tyres looking for tread?

Many thanks,
Mat

Thanks for the update Mal

First things first... Kev, I will be in Corona from this Saturday, until 31st Oct

In regards to the 34... I can explain!

The reason for the new oil filter is that when we put the car back together we noticed there was no oil filter on the car. Why? I have no idea the line had been capped.

The sleeve in the block has only been recently done. The engine had been bored .40" so we took it all back to standard, so I am quite suprised about the leak I thought it may have taken up

As for the pulley setup on the fsn belt the original setup with the 2 belts was still slipping and it was decided that using a 3rd pulley would fix this issue and as it wasn't a major modification it could be put back to standard.

The next thing, ther generator, we are getting this checked out today so once we know what the status of the generator is i'll let you know.

The waterpump: The waterpump I have at home is for a 1936 Packard, considering my engine is a 36 block this waterpump should fit? Can you comfirm this with Wade?

Cheers,
Mat

Hi David,

Not long until the trip to the U.S. This is the 3rd time that this generator has thrown the solder. The generator is off a 36 Packard. It has also been messed with before. The 3rd brush has been removed & a bosch (VW) regulator installed on the firewall. An alternator would sure be the best way to go, this could be an option and may be the best option if I find something to work

Other than that, the car is doing well, done over 1200 miles in the last week! More than it has done in 10 years

Cheers,
Mat

Hi Benjie,

That looks like quite an interesting project you have there. I noticed you mentioned the vehicle has a holbrook body, I was going through some images and came across another Packard with a Holbrook body. This vehicle use to belong to Max Hood and as far as I know still resides in Australia

Cheers,
Mathew

Update on the 55, today the Caribbean went off to the paintshop YAY!!! so in 3 weeks she should be back looking good once again. Then we can put the engine back in and get the new brake system installed and get some more pictures & information on the conversion posted

Cheers,
Mat

Mathew Rattray
I remember in the Packard Registry done some years ago they worked out roughly that 1 in 5 Caribbeans survived. I know my vehicle wasn't on that list and suspect quite a few more would be in the same "boat"
