Re: PT Boat

I thought this might be of interest to some of you. These weekend my father, Philip Adair, will be a guest at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum, MAAM, a gathering of War Birds.

I figured since he is also presenting on Packard war engines at the Warren Museum in July, this might be of interest to some.

MAAM

Also of interest may be a P40 N freshly restored in my father's paint scheme:

What do ya'll recommend for fire extinguishers? I was at the AACA meet in Fredericksburg last weekend and they had these white fire extinguishers on all of their cars. Shoulda checked them out then.

Thanks

One more from last weekend. My son LOVES Sonic. We went there twice last year because I told him I didn't want to get burned out on it and we should save it for when we can take a Packard. So, making up for it this year, we hit it the last two weekends and ended up swinging by the SPCA to check on one of our cats that is lost. Here is the ride back home from his cellphone straight to his facebook page. Actually, the other photo is his as well and is one he posted to his FB page.

I believe they are Labrador Gray over Yosemite Blue. They are both Metallic. Someone else asked to see more pics of this car and I would be happy to oblige. Didn't know if I should load them in the photo archive or create a blog.

Here's a link anyway, a couple of pages worth so you can see the paint close up

Had a good time last weekend. Took pops out in the convertible Friday and my son to his favorite Sonic Sunday.

I also loaded all three of them and my nephew up for jaunt to one of my favorite dining establishments, the Snack Shack.
Here's a shot of the 52 whilst we dine

Hi Ross,

Looks like we'll be going by your place next Friday and Sunday on our way to the Reading Mid Atlantic Air Museum Show next weekend.

I could use a better rear bumper bullet for my convertible. That left one is a little rusty. Do you have any kicking around?

Electromatic clutch question
Home away from home
Home away from home

Robin Adair
So, silly me picked up a 48 Club Sedan recently. Couldn't resist.

My mechanic is going through it right now to bring it back to shape to put it on the road again.

One question has come up though. In a conversation he had with another Packard buddy a few years ago, the buddy made the comment that most people unhooked the electomatic clutch because they didn't work.

The one on this car is unhooked as well. This car also has overdrive.

I am thinking, and my mechanic is as well, that we should fix the Electromatic clutch.

What are ya'lls thoughts on that topic?

Thanks

Tinpan

Thanks, that led me to DAP contact cement and Amazon reviews led me to Barge. I ordered that and we'll see how that works

Door Panel repair
Home away from home
Home away from home

Robin Adair
I recently scored a new mirror for my 54 convertible. I had to take the door panel off to install it. Whilst off I thought I would facilitate a small repair to it

The white strip in the center of the door is coming unglued. It looked like it was glued on with contact cement. I thought about reglueing it with contact cement but I don't think that will hold. Any other suggestions? Both the red and the white are vinyl

Thanks

Re: decoding model numbers & TPN numbers
Home away from home

Robin Adair
A couple questions:

"For the 1952 and 1954 cars if you subtract 2000 from the 2nd set of digits on the vehicle number you have the production sequence number. On 1955 and 1956 cars subtract 1000."

Where do you guys find this information? lol. If you don't mind, what is the formula for 1940's and 1930's as well.

Using the example of the 400, subtracting 1000 would mean it was the 230th. Would that be the 230th car produced that year or the 230th 400?

Also, is there a way to research what paint codes and trim cars originally had? As you can see that info isn't always on the data plate.

Thanks

Tinpan
