I need to know what the original exhaust deflector for a 23rd sries car looked like. I have seen cars with the same one I have and the one that Kanter seems to carry. Just put up a picture and discription of where I can get it when someone finds out. Thanks!

This is the one on my car now.

Thanks for being interested, Barrie! Your car is very similar to mine, I see. I won't be removing any large pieces of the body, just chrome. The whole car will be painted at one time. The engine is 100% original (except for the battery, of course) and still has what's left of the original paint on the block. It runs like a dream and starts up just as easy, too. I will be getting a quote either before or after winter for paint. I think the last person who tried to re-paint it really did an awful job. It looks like spray paint right on top of the original paint! Thanks again for your interest! I'll keep you and everyone else posted on the restoration. Nothing has really happened in the past couple of days, though.

I bought this car on July 23rd, 2010 in Friendship, WI. The car was in beautiful condition. It wore its second paint job in its original color of Turquoise Blue. It is intended to be a 3 year restoration. Currently all chrome has been removed from the body in preparation for paint next warm season.

Alright everybody I have an opinion question for you. I have a '49 Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan in Turquoise Blue. The question is: would fog lamps or drivin lamps go better on this car? I'm thinking the fog lamp orange would contrast pretty badly, but that's why I'm asking you! Thanks everyone!

Re: 23rd Series Mirrors

J.R. Buzzell
Now, thanks everybody, but when I went to go put the mirrors where they are supposed to be, I ran into a problem. If you look on JD's second picture, the mirrors are above that strip of chrome on the door. Problem for me to put them there is that there is a big, thick piece of weatherstrip rubber there, and the mirrors don't fit on. Now what?

I have put new mirrors of the era on my 23rd Series Deluxe Eight and have seen many places of where to put them. I hae seen them on the tops of doors near the water rail, and right next to the vent windows. I am not sure which is right. If any of you 23rd Series fellows know, please tell me.
