Bill
Packman,
Likewise here on the HEI conversion, I have a 56 Executive which is a driver and I have been trying to find an HEI that would work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Either a pm or email at wlsteiner@suddenlink.net.
Thanks
Bill

BD,
You'll wonder how did we bleed brakes without them. If you contact them with car info they will give you valve number, the one for my 56 was SB3824.

Can I hear an Amen for Mike T. I too really enjoy this site and have benefitted greatly from info gathered here and since it is all about Packards why not encourage individuality in restoring and/or modifying our rides instead of condeming the differences. I enjoy both total original, which my 56 Exec is, and rods, by the way a street rodded Packard is not a COMMON street rod. Whenever someone shares their projects let's just say thanks because it involves a Packard.

BD,
I too am experiencing hard pedal, with a rebuilt TV unit, so if you discover just what is causing the problem please post your results. I replaced all wheel cylinders and all hard and rubber lines. Before I was ready to bleed the brake system I ordered a set of Speed Bleeders and a fluid recovery bag from speedbleeder.com. This turned out to be the easiest brake bleed I have experienced and did it solo, was able to leave wife in the house.

You might want to check out an earlier thread titled "Fuel Tank Surprise" for explanation of the operation of Packard fuel guage.

Quote from that thread:
The way the Packard gauge works is a small heating coil works on a bimetallic strip which moves with temperature change and is linked to needle. At empty, the resistance is high so very little current flows to heater, so very little heat up, and almost no movement of needle. At full, there is only a slight bit of resistance, so the heater is on and able to move the needle to maximum

Speaking of picking up a trunk kit at Perrysville, is this a vendor that makes trunk liner reproductions and if so do you have any contact info available? Needed for an Executive.
Thanks

Bill
As in above thread my DB tires have arrived and put on car. What an improvement in ride and steering. Also installed a set of Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks, car no longer "floats" but nice firm but comfortable feel. The Monroe numbers are, front-37096 ST and rear-37147 ST. Only minor mods to rear lower shoch mount needed but worth the trouble. Have 4 BF Goodrich Silvertowns 760X15 bias-ply with about 90% tread, 2 3/4" WW and no age cracks for sale, $200.00 for set plus shipping from Louisiana.

Clipper,
I just ordered a set 225x75x15 radials for my 56 Executive from DB, they have 2 3/4" WW and are made by Cooper Tire with 50,000 mile whatever it is they have. Should have them in about 2 weeks then could let you know my opinion if interested.
