Fred has been notified. She thinks that it's a little steep.

Fred needs to use her negotiating skills.......

You know Marty, I hadn't thought of that in relation to rebuilding these heater valves! Excellent point, I'll try annealing the tabs next time I rebuild one. Thanks!

Here's the rig that I made to 'squeeze' my heater valves together when rebending the tabs, same concept as Dads 56:

The very one. Kinda two shades of maroon - the likely original bit and the repainted bit.

It did have cat paw prints in the dust on the windshield.

Cat paw prints?? Maybe Fred had already been there and looked at it!

There's a '47 Clipper 6 for sale in eastern NC, so I went to see that on the way home.

I have to say that I am very positively impressed that the old car folks stepped up and bought all but 2 of these cars.

Do you think that maybe scrappers (sorry, they are 'recyclers' today ) purchased some of these (the ones that went for a few hundred bucks)? Not sure what scrap prices are these days, but there is a lot of metal in those old Packards.

The one Packard in this auction that was sold by my family's Packard dealership (#88, serial 2552-5396, a four door) wend for $300 to a bidder named 'budlight', who I see bought a number of other low priced cars. I don't have any hope this car will live much longer.

There is that Caribbean with the air cleaner on it. If nobody buys it that part goes to the junkyard, however, once the scrapper hauls it away I'm sure they will sell those bits and pieces.

I wouldn't be surprised to see those neat bits and pieces (hubcaps, Caribbean air cleaner, etc) "disappear" after the auction is over and people start showing up to collect their purchases plus whatever else they can pilfer.

Well, I bit the bullet and went thru comparing all the serial numbers of the Packards and Avantis in this auction to my spreadsheet of the cars sold by my family's dealerships. Only one match -- #88, serial number 2552-5396, a black 400 Touring Sedan. This car is mis-represented in the auction description as a "Pacific Hardtop". Needless to say, I won't be bidding on it, but it's interesting that this car has survived until 2021. Unfortunately, I don't feel good that it will survive much longer.

From looking at these cars, I'm afraid a high percentage will become scrap.
